My reality now

With everything going on, I just stopped today and said "I need to at least get it off my chest" so here I am.

The virus around here (South-Central Oklahoma) has really not been raging, BUT it is consistent. I read stories on FB all the time about it being fake, but my step-mom has it. Most of the schools around here are giving an on-line option for the students which I think is awesome, except for the school we just transferred to. The school we just transferred to only has that option for those who are already sick or immune compromised, I do not agree with this. My kids are healthy, and not compromised, but I seriously do not feel comfortable sending them to a school that isn't even mandating masks. Call me paranoid but that doesn't seem like a good thing. So I have been researching on-line public schools, but my husband is afraid they will miss out on too much if we do that. While I can and do see his point, I feel like their health is a lot more important. It's not like there won't be opportunities for them to make friends, on-line schools have structured and planned meetings for the kids that would be mandated with all the precautions. I also thought of adding some field trips and outings when reasonable (masks and precautions or waiting until it's safer). If I were to do the on-line option for my kids, my 18 year old would have to help me.

My husband has been working 15-17 hour days to help out his boss, so we don't see him much at all these days. He is lucky if he gets 3 hours of sleep a night. I'm not sure how long a person can do that without serious health or mental problems, but he's been at it for at least 3 months. Lately it's been more often that not. It's not easy on any of us. He's more irritable when he is home, which I can understand but it wears on us all. I honestly can't remember the last time we just sat down and watched a movie or relaxed as a family.

The town where we live, is not a large town, and we've had things taken out of our yard. My back window was busted out, nothing taken (like anything was in there, the doors were unlocked). There are gunshots at least 3 times a week from a few blocks away, and there are never any cops that investigate (so I figure drugs or something involved). So I don't feel comfortable letting my boys outside to play, even during the day. The other night we had someone slinking around outside, thank goodness my husband happened to be home!!

And the heat lol even if it were safe to go to the parks or anywhere, the heat would keep us home. I don't have a working a/c in my vehicle, and this year has really been bad...or I'm just older and feel it more. One window rolls down, the other needs a new switch or something.

This post feels like one big "poor me" but I really just needed to say it, and no one is here lol

Everyone stay safe and well!

She recovered after an injection of platelets from someone who had recovered from the virus. We am taking all the precautions that we can. Police protection is just not what it used to be. I have a problem, also, with firearms being discharged in residential areas. First of all; it's dangerous, because lots of times, the shooters are compromised by being drunk or high. Today's firearms are not toys to be played around with. Personally, I get very anxious when I hear gunfire close to me. For home defense, I would suggest a 20 Gauge shotgun with a modified choke and #4 lead shot. (learn how to use it, too) Of course, we don't want to kill anyone, but we don't want to die, either....I remember when I used to work seven days a week to make ends meet. Nobody liked it, but we understood it was necessary. I relate to many of your concerns, lady. Stay safe, take care, and write on.....

For now I have an old school air rifle that packs a wonderful punch when pumped up to 10, a metal baseball bat by the door and several knives within easy reach of my side of the bed. I'm as good as I can be right now! Stay safe and healthy friend

An aspirin at fifty feet was no problem. I need to brush up on those skills. Practice, practice, practice....I had good luck with the baseball bat when I choked up on the handle, just a little. Speed...write on......
Date: 7/30/2020 6:03:00 PM  From Authorid: 998    Oh I assure you ... it is not just you. If fact, I'm pretty sure we all could fill a few posts about rants, complaints and a few tears. This is quite honestly a very stressful and trying time we are living in. We are mandated to wear masks in all indoor spaces even if no people are around. It is certainly taxing to worry about us or loved ones getting infected with the virus.

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing so many issues. I hope your family can find ways to spend more time together as a family. The schooling of your children is such a tough issue to face. If they stay healthy then they can catch up on the social interactions they may miss after the vaccine comes out. I can't believe that Oklahoma isn't taking this more seriously. I heard a couple of days ago that your state was a red zone with new cases above many states. I hope they may reconsider their classroom schooling. The best to you and stay safe.

It's crazy, you go to the store and people will put the mask on to get in the door and then take it off. There are a lot that don't but too many that do. I decided to do K12 with my kids at home, too much nonsense! Stay safe and healthy!
