Sharper Than The Edge of A Knife ............... By: Scarecrow76

Was that me sitting down in the chair down by the stairs?
The one next to that glass of chilled white wine.
Are those my words that I scribbled down or another me and time?
I'm almost certain that the glass of wine was mine.
Memory's kind of funny falling into and out of frame.
Someone called out to me by it but I did not answer to my own name.
I get so embarrassed when there is something in front of me I could not see.
When I'm scanning the checklist of what makes me "Me".
I don't eat when I am hungry and I don't drink when I'm thirsty.
And it's hard to see historic pictures in my mind.
Today is a struggle and tomorrows are reborn yesterdays.
Sharper than the edge of a knife.
Was I writing this song somewhere in my head?
Or did I her it while I was laying around in bed?
There's a line I don't remember I just remember that it was tender.
But it's been obscured by the world inside my head.
I don't eat when I am hungry and I don't drink when I'm thirsty.
And it's hard to see historic pictures in my mind.
Today is a struggle and tomorrows are reborn yesterdays.
Sharper than the edge of a knife.

(( I Find I have been having memory loss issues and thought it funny when my wife brought an article to my attention from 3 years ago in "The Rolling Stone". It was an interview with Kris Kristofferson speaking about his memory loss issues and reflections of his life and the impact it had on him creatively. If you rad the article you will see that Kris had started to pen a song about his struggles and got about a verse in before he had to lay it aside and go on to other projects. Apparently his daughter Kelley finished writing the song but it has still never been recorded. The article recited the first verse Kris penned and though not word for word that is where I got my first verse from to kind of write it from my vantage point of experience so I would like to give writing credits for this one to both Kelley Kristofferson and her legendary father Kris Kristofferson without whom I would still be struggling with wondering how I was going to tackle this topic.>

(without going on line) Then, in the middle of the night, the answer will come to me and I'll blurt it out, to no one. The best thing I can do is write it down when I think of it, `cause I may never capture that thought, again. I enjoyed the way you addressed the condition in your poem, Scarecrow 76. Write on....
