I remember when you were a little magician.
Waved a wand of hope over family traditions.
But you sometimes fell down or you cried in a fight.
But you had your brothers' backs at the end of the night.
When you got it right you ran with your stars in your hand.
Saying "one day I'll be a magic law man"
But you saw the world was concrete and grabbed up a chisel real slow.
Now you're Xander on the dreamer's patrol.

I remeber when you were a mad scientist.
Waste $100 of house hold cleansers and condiments.
I wish I could say it was you're age but you were 15 years old.
Learning how much you don't know about a world that turns so very slow.
But you would suprise everyone by things that were so kind.
That coupled by your age was a blowing of the mind.
You took a chip of life and started carving words in it real slow.
Now you're Xander of the dreamer's patrol.

Sometimes I get scared hearing you walk around at night.
Lord only knows what you're getting into before dawn's early light.
I creep up to the door and I open it really slow.
"My God that kid got into my swiss cake rolls. Lord Noooooooooooooo!"

So you are an inspiration to others to work for what they have.
And you're bright as you're sharp when you don't annoy me too bad.
I swear one of these days you will take over the world.
At least until you discover how much you really like girls.
Sometimes you go for the wrong thoughts with a really bright mind.
You don't know when to say "it's thought closing time".
You've come a real long hard way and there's some years and miles to go.

((I have 4 grandsons I inherited when marrying my wife and Xander by far, is the most interesting and hard to read as well as creative. He was the 3rd born and I wrote this for him. Sometimes the world just seems to be ganging up and really hard on him and not completely without reason but if we remember being intelligent young men and women who were sometimes stuck in the frustrating world of being the only one quite like you and far removed from all of the other personalities you have been thrown in among, we (Especially me) can sympathized and relate to this talented and creative young soul who still is not afraid to dream and will protect your right to dream your dreams even if you disagree with his.>
