I got a call a couple days ago from my best friend, Jim. He beat cancer three years ago through aggressive chemotherapy. Then, after complaining to his doctor last week of a strange soreness in his neck, he found out that he has swollen lymph nodes that *could be* cancerous. He and I and all our friends are devastated, and we're all praying that his cancer hasn't returned.
Jim and I have been friends for more than 40 years. We've been there for each other through thick and thin, and we are like brothers. We always used to joke that when we got to be old men, we would be like the old man Muppets, Waldorf and Statler. I don't know what I will do if he dies. No, that's not true, I do know: I will grieve for the next several years because I will have lost the closest friend I have.
Please pray for him.
