Chapter III - Rage and Lonliness

After months on the run, I finally saw My situation as Victor's fault and began plotting to kill him or at least make him so miserable that he would wish he were dead. Suddenly I then so decided to use his knowledge to create a woman for me so I would have someone to love and to love me. Someone who would know my misery and would be with me even if for no other reason than being a hunted, monstrous abomination no one else would want. Much like myself.... Exactly like myself. So I traveled back to the place where this all began and orchestrated a meeting with Victor in his lab. We met, I explained what I wanted and said "We will be the only ones of our kind. Neither dead nor alive and certainly we will never be truly loved but.... Our lives will not be happy ones but at least they will be ours's alone to live" Then unexpectedly he refused to use his knowledge for the purpose I was demanding. I then informed him that I would kill his loved ones if he did not agree to do so if he did not answer by a certain day and time.... Then it would be that the blood would be on his hands. He stood his ground when I returned for his decision. He still refused so I crept through the manor undetected a into his fiancé's bedroom and smothered her to death accidently breaking her neck in the process.

Victor being the coward he was, became angry but was more in fear of his life which prompted his using his own fiancé's body to a counter part for me. I began haunting the lab as Victor started all of the preparations to bring her back from the dead. Finally all was ready but the power source. But the wait was not very long as lightning storms were engulfing the skies. At first, the experiment or procedure was a complete failure. I was saddened, frustrated and angry but I knew I could not kill Victor because he would be the only one who could ever do this abominable thing successfully. I was trying to be patient. She broke the silence letting out a loud gasp. Her eyes snapped open. She saw Victor's face and tried to call his name. She could not because of damages her vocal cords had taken when I had accidently broken her neck. It sounded like an airy squeak but to me was the sweetest voice I had ever heard. Victor helped her to her feet and she gave the impression that she did not understand how her motor skills were severely impaired. She looked in my direction and saw me which brought back the memory that I had smothered her and broken her neck. Then she realized she had just become Victor's first female test subject. She gestured that she wanted to see herself. Reluctantly, Victor fetched a mirror and allowed her to take it from his hands. She let out a fierce, bone chilling scream that became wails. It sounded much like a tortured infant. She sat on the table and instantly stopped crying with a far away look on her face. She reached and picked up a scalpel an went to cut herself. Victor stopped her but she looked at him and gestured she did not want to be brought back from the dead nor live with the mutilation the procedure had caused. With tears in her eyes, Victor releases her hand. A slight smile of relief was a melancholy sight as it stretched upon her face and she cut her own throat and drowned on her own blood with a most unsettling smile upon her face. This made me feel like I now had become the monster I knew Victor to be. Victor began to plot my death and a few of those schemes were traps I foolishly walked into but he was never successful in his endeavor. He set these traps in such a way that I could not tell if it were Victor or poachers he had hired to patrol the estate. Though my mind was mostly gone to maddens, sorrow and hate, I was reasonable.

By this time, I became aware of a man who had been born on the manor with his own small laboratory named Johann Conrad Dippel. He was an alchemist and considered a genius. I have to believe that he knew of Victor's work as I heard conversations that Johann was having with grave robbers whom were under his employment making sure they had not been seen or followed. He was trying to use alchemy as the vehicle of restoring life to the dead. In a heavy, hooded smock that covered my face, I asked if he could help me and he explained he could not until I found the right chemical compound and he would be glad to at such time. This turned my focus back to Victor. He squandered his family's fortune securing the castle and his laboratories. He wanted to evade any face to face encounters with me. However I managed to dig away at the mortar around the cages of the windows and being none the wiser, I would go to Victor's bedroom as he slept and would sit watching him for hours. It assured me that I could have him whenever I so wished to and I would leave clues in noticeable places so he would know it too.

My mind finally wss lost in madness which led to my fall into the abyss of insanity. Again I demanded a mate from Victor's making using the corpses Johann was finding it hard to safely dispose of. Victor tried to ignore the matter but I pressed the issue. Then Victor definitively refused. So I again threatened and promised I would kill and destroy all that he loved and rob him of any joy he may ever find. By now I had been beaten, shot, stabbed, poisoned, burned and even sliced by the poachers and bounty hunters Victor hired in th past to do away with me. This made me understand that not only had Victor cursed me with being a soulless monster but also (though not absent of feeling the physical pain) with immortality. One night, I snuck into the lab and found Igor there. I asked him if he could reproduce the procedures that brought me to this mock life from assisting Victor. He said no. It occurred to me that Igor was someone that Victor cared for greatly and considered a brother. Igor had in some way taken the place of Victor's real brother Henry. so, I broke Igor's back and gutted him as I used to do the deer in the forest until I tried to starve myself to death but.... death refused me it's mercy. I left Igor on the table with his internal organs draped over his body like garland on a Christmas tree. I hid in the loft until Victor had saw what I had done and then I snuck out of the lab and the castle. Victor by this time was engaged to be married yet again. His fear, hate, sorrow and treachery wiped away the last of the morals that he still had. He killed his new fiancé to try to create a female counterpart for me one more time.

Victor prepared the body and luckily, a lightning storm had begun. Lightning powered the generators and a massive jolt was delivered bringing my companion to be to life and consciousness. Again Victor helped her to her feet and turned her towards me so that she could see me. I was crying tears of joy with the first smile I know of stretching upon my face. When she saw me, she screamed in terror. I placed my hand over her mouth so she could hear me explain I was not there to hurt her. Much to my dismay I placed my hand with too much force and broke her neck. In a rage, I tore away from the castle and was crossing the grounds. Victor's hounds rushed me to attack and so I killed all 20 of them. This led Victor to think he was THE victim. When a man feels he has been victimized, he will cause as much destruction as possible to liquidate what made him feel that way. This leads also to revenge. Victor wanted to turn the tables and be the hunter and not hunted. But Victor always was a coward. Plainly and simply.
