Of all the creatures on earth, only mankind has lost it's connection to the spiritual side of life. We study the animals in order to understand how to stay healthy and how to remain in contact with the divine. What is perceived as simple and natural by some, will be quite different to the common person.
Take the cat for instance. It is believed that people age because their internal energy leaks out. Kind of like an old battery. It is concluded that one way an animal seals in its energy is by sleeping curled up, effectively closing off the passages where energy might escape.
Notice the way her abdomen rises and falls gently. It has been confirmed that unhindered breath (diaphramagmatic breathing) which fills the entire abdomen is beneficial. Notice the way your cat wakes up instantly, not like humans who are lazy, drowsy and stiff. See how she stretches, even the cat knows calisthenics and uses them to maintain her system.
What if she gets sick? Cats often eat mice and rats, both very dirty animals. She suppliments her diet with herbs and grass in order to clean her system.
Finally, the cat is spiritual. She meditates. When she sits at the window sill or in front of a mouse hole, she is unmoving and concentrates. We've seen them sitting before. Nothing distracts it. Her mind on one point. She can sit for almost an entire day at one hole until the rat comes out and she catches it. Perfect stillness and concentration, perfect action and strength.
The cat does not need a teacher, the cat teaches itself. It preserves energy, knows the art of breathing, heals itself, and is skilled in meditative concentration.
Now take the crane for instance. Look at that bird. How vain they are! Birds are like that. Arrogant and posey. But look again. It is so big how can it fly? How can it stand on one thin leg like that? You can call it what you like, but when the birds breath mixes with the bird's existing energy, it lightens the body enough to fly. Filling itself up with air, it can lift off or stand on one leg.
It stands on one leg because, like the cat, it is locking off the body to conserve its energy. Certain meditative postures were perfected by adopting the crane's distinctive locks. Its head is tilted back in the head lock and its eyes stare up at the psychic center in its forehead, its chest is made full, to lock its diaphram, and one leg is tucked in to close the opening.
The frog is a master of breathwork. He is constantly exercising the three locks. Squatting locks the sit bone. Inflating his chest locks the diaphragm, and his eyes look constantly at his third eye, locking his head. With its mind on the divine and its body locked in meditative posture, it practices breathwork and permits no life force to escape. He can jump unusual distances and stores tremendous amounts of internal energy.
Most animals mate only during spring. In some species, male and female do not even intermingle a great deal. All animals practice celibacy, and in so doing they preserve their life force. If you want to preserve your health, attain longevity, and pierce life's mysteries, you must seal in the life force through the three locks, and practice breathwork and meditation to retain and circulate the life force that is rooted in the sexual essence.
The body has different centers, all in one line. Each one, from the bottom of the torso to the crown of the head, will provide certain powers to the practioner. Energy is needed to open these centers. The highest point is the crown, and it is difficult to refine one's energy and raise it that high. In order to do this, the sexual essence reacts with breath and enhances the existing life force. This is circulated and transformed into spirit energy that reaches the top.
The animals, through the use of body locks, herbs, exercise, and meditation, preserve their life force and remain in the spirtual.
