Shadows

Floats the surf
with a jug of rye,
I drink alone
there's no one nearby.

My cup is raised
to see a brilliant moon;
the shadow's face cast
across stucco walls.

The moon does not
know how to sip
and my shadow
can only follow its lead.

For a short time
moon and shadow are acquainted
to that pleasure
that can only last until spring.

A song in the moon waivers
from here to there
as I dance - flickerings
of a shadow disperse.

I make a pledge
to travel always free of feelings,
to do an appointment
with those who gather

In a galaxy far away ~
