doctors,patients and compassion

Doctors are frequently accused of lack of feeling and compassion for their patients. I think I can see things a little from their perspective. I believe a lot of the things we complain about in this field are consequences of our own actions over the last few decades. It has become commonplace for people to sue each other for the simplest of things which in some cases completely destroy the life of the accused. Brings out new laws and workplace behavior. We are no longer allowed to be free and make our own choices and judgements. If my employee does things I do not like I have to have good documented proof to be able to fire that person even though it is my business and my ideas...they say unfair...but what about the unemployed person that will replace the trouble and get things back in harmony...so what is unfair. Now back to doctors....the chances of them being sued by someone is extremely high...they have to be very careful in what they tell their patients...their fellow doctors and are usually under great scrutiny. I am sure there are many very knowledgeable doctors that would love to give their patients better information and less or better drugs but they have to follow the same rules and more ...mind how you behave...what you say...and what you prescribe has to be from the right companies if you want to get your bonuses and or stay in business. So with all these and unmentioned pressures and strict guidelines is it any wonder that the doctor has become distant in truth communication when they risk their license and lively hood by trying to help individuals. They make mistakes like all the rest of us. Is it fair to jump down their throats and try to sue and destroy them for a mistake. Nobody forced you to take the operation or seek a particular medical practitioner... although now in certain places it is compulsory for your child to have chemotherapy and vaccines whether you agree or not. Before going to the doctors or for surgery one should investigate all avenues of your suspected illness....this is your body In the past we were responsible for our own actions and decisions....it appears now we just want someone else to blame for our misfortunes. I have good patience for doctors but that does not mean I trust them or the system...I like to research my problem and gain an understanding then meet with the doctor or surgeon...and if my understanding meets with their superior knowledge on this subject then we can move forward...if not then I reevaluate with the extra thoughts and research more then if we still don't agree I try someone else. A doctor is just someone well trained in a specific field and work to earn money...there are few that continue practicing that actually do it to help people.

Date: 8/10/2017 5:54:00 PM  From Authorid: 22721    Just as they're good doctors, I'm sure there are bad ones. But it seems like I have experienced the latter. They see my symptoms, but don't really see patients as as people. They prescribe prescriptions without knowing much about them, disregarding the side effects for the patient, as long as one symptom is resolved.
Date: 8/10/2017 6:22:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 67541    Thanks for the comment desert lotus. Unfortunately as I thought it's just business and compounding bonuses for prescribing amounts of a certain drug and drugs from some pharmaceutical companies. These companies love side effects as they can get doctors to prescribe more meds for the effects.
I have a nurse friend whom recently quit her job after 15 years as she was so appalled at lack of compassion and how the hospitals now work on profit margins not on healing. She said the amount of paperwork and questionnaires patients have to fill out before being seen would be unbelievable for me.
Date: 8/10/2017 8:35:00 PM  From Authorid: 22721    I would hope that one day the healthcare system will actually put healing first, versus having a higher profit. Also when I was recovering from my brain surgery, I looked at the sweetener that that they giving me; Aspartame, a known carcinogen. Despite having a brain tumor removed, the hospital was giving me something to cause cancer after my brain surgery.

Date: 9/11/2017 10:20:00 PM  From Authorid: 61013    I think for doctors its not that they don't care, but they have done the job a thousand times and so they've become almost numb to it if that makes any sense. The doctors I've had over the years made sure I knew that they cared.
