Angels on duty........Blue~

It’s been a while since I’ve made a post I hope all of USM’s Angels are doing very well. I was up late, it’s 12:42am here in The land of the Bluegrass

Normally I’m already out like a light but couldn’t sleep with lot’s on my mind, the wheels are turning *smiles* I’ve been enjoying reading the posts and very happy to read that some of our long time USMers have returned. How Wonderful is that!!?

I’m so looking forward to reading more of their posts and reconnecting, catching up. I’ve been so busy caring for Edward, our animals and here on the farm I’ve had very little time for any thing else. We’ve also been anxiously waiting on the trial for the man who murdered my nephew Jimmy, but learned at the last minute the trial was continued up until November. Jimmy’s

youngest sister is enlisted in the USAir Force has been for quite some time now. She had to receive Special permission to travel to Kentucky for this trial. How rude and uncaring not to forget unprofessional not to inform the family of the change in the date. I still have my suspicions about this entire ordeal, but come November, Lord’s will we shall see how it all goes.

Also back on June 30th in late evening between 8:00pm-----8:30pm Ed wrecked the atv. Not the same one I wrecked on. But he wasn’t as fortunate as I was. He’s been recuperating since being discharged from the hospital 9 days after the wreck while 3 of those days were spent in ICU. One thing is for certain, we had to purchase a recliner for him and since they were having a great deal on them, the sale price incredible I also purchased one for myself.

My Mom says I think of every one but myself, well this time I decided to think of “me” too. I don’t know how I ever made it without one! They are so comfortable, relaxing. I remained at Ed’s side during his entire hospital stay, driving back to the farm to check on every thing, feeding our animals, water flowers, plants, checking our vegetable gardens. It’s definitely tiring and that recliner surely has come in handy.

It all happened on a Friday evening when Ed finished mowing & decided he wanted to cool down by taking the atv out for a ride. I was walking my German shepherd, she’s 11 years old now and has not been feeling well but has shown improvement thankfully within the past 2 weeks now. When I took her off the porch on her leash, Egan our Anatolian “stubborn” Shepherd slipped passed me & ran after Ed following him. While I was walking Sheyoni, Ed came up on the atv seeing me by the barn he stopped. I asked him why didn’t he park the atv and we watch RFD’s Country Family Reunion as we do about every Friday evening.

He agreed and started down the gravel road that leads to our cabin I yelled slow down on that thing! Walking behind him but he was moving fast on it when I saw Egan run out in front of him & Ed swerved to avoid hitting him, the atv went up an incline beside one of the kennels while the sheer force threw him off the atv it landed on him, while he shoved it off of him. He has always sat on it sideways anyway.

Needless to say, I stood there in sheer terror, my legs so weak I didn’t think I was going to be able to move. I screamed his name & ran to him. I’m not sure how my Sheyoni made it, running with me. When we reached him, I could see he was critically injured but not sure how much. I tried to reassure him and told him I would be right back. I tried to get Egan to go with me, but he wouldn’t leave Ed at the moment. So I took Sheyoni & put her on the porch of our cabin, ran inside, grabbed the phone, dialed 911 and tried to remain as calm and speak as clearly as I possibly could.

I went back to Edward, took some pillows to prop his head at least out of the gravel. I was afraid to move him not knowing the extent of his injuries but as I’ve already mentioned, I knew they were serious. I began to Pray to myself and tried to keep him talking to me and keep him as calm as possible. He said to me, he had really hurt himself. But as I was Praying silently I felt he would be ok, the other was just unacceptable, still it was going to be a journey for him to recover. It seemed to take forever for the EMT’s and ambulance to arrive, I think I called a couple more times because it took almost an hour for them to arrive and that needs to change for every one. That’s utterly beyond unacceptable, it’s unprofessional too. But before any one arrived, I was also able to get Egan back onto the porch without any incident although he didn’t want to leave Ed’s side, and this in itself almost made me cry but I couldn’t let Ed see that I was upset in any way that would interfere with his condition….then, finally an older gentleman was the only one who finally arrived from the fire department and although he was nice he seemed scared at first and actually thought Ed was no longer with us. This irritated me I must say.

It also highly irritated me when the Ambulance driver ( EMT’s) couldn’t seem to find us, though I tried not to let it show. I’m not even sure why the man from the fire department was sent, every thing seemed so surreal off kilter as it was but when the EMT’s finally arrived., they started assessing Ed’s condition, placed a neck brace around his neck and lifted him onto a board. In my opinion he should have been in a medical helicopter and flown out of the mountains, we certainly have a place for a helicopter to fly in and I said as much to the EMT’s. But, after our stop at the nearest hospital he was taken to Saint Mary’s Trauma Unit in Huntington, West Virginia,

I didn’t want him taken to UK Medical Center because night was falling fast and by the time we got to the first hospital it was already dark and there was all the construction work in progress around the hospital and clinics at University of Kentucky Med Center and because I don’t care for their Veteran’s Wing. So, he was in ICU Trauma at Saint Mary’s Medical then sent to a room, he thought he could come home and recover here at home but had to return the next day due to some complications where the chest tube had been removed. So I took him to the ER of The Veteran’s Hospital. They have always been so good to us. He was there for an additional 4 days then discharged and has physical therapy here at home 2 times a week while he is recuperating. His collarbone is broken, a punctured lung, 2 vertebrae are fractured in several places & 5 broken ribs. Until this week he was bruised nearly from his head to his hips. He had a couple deep cuts on his head and his face was very bruised as well. As I’ve said, he is very fortunate and His Guardian Angels were definitely “ON DUTY” that evening! It’s been tough but we’re making it. A friend is helping us keep our lawns mowed. Although our gardens aren’t doing so well. I think the only vegetables that are

salvageable are the tomatoes ( some of them), another corn crop hopefully we will put that up, another friend of ours brought the 1st crop in for us, though I’m not sure what he was thinking bless his heart---I detest pickled corn! Lol but Ed will have fun eating all of that! Lol and let’s see our green beans, but the deer may be eating the beans lol sheesh but everything else with the exception of some potatoes are ruined. The wildlife have made a feast out of all the veggies we worked so hard to have for harvest. I went to town for a few minutes yesterday and on my way out I saw 3 turkeys in the garden where we have our potatoes and watermelons., I know they are eating all those pretty watermelons. But hopefully we can save what is left, that is if any will be left.

But I won’t complain, it surely could have been a whole lot worse. I simply hope he will sell the atv I mentioned to him yesterday morning, I wish he would. In fact I mentioned it before the accident, we were discussing it 2 days before, going to TSC, looking at the side by sides. God is surely Good and Faithful to us. We have so much to thank Him for. It’s been quite a journey and he still has a long way to full recovery, but each day there is improvement. It’s a funny thing, I began reading a book about Angels here a few days ago. Incredible experiences people share in this book-----It also discusses how The Heroes of Faith had experiences with God's Angelic host in Biblical times----How Awesome would it be to actually be able to see God's Angels as The Prophet Elisha and Others did----I have felt them or what I have believed were Angels and I had an experience during one of Ed's hospital procedures with what I believe now was possibly my first face to face encounter with an Angel....I'll share my experience sometime.. But, how so very amazing, Our Lord loves us so much He would dispatch His holy Angels whether we see them or not still they lead guide minister to and protect us-------

Sweet dreams Angels Take Care, God Bless

Much Love, Blue~
