Was the cupcake that important?

Once again I work at Walmart. This just happened at my register I was ringing out a woman and I grabbed her single cupcake and the box it was in opens and it fell upside down on the belt. I asked the woman if she still wanted it that we could get her another one she said if she could talk to a manager. So a csm came and talked to her. I explained it was a accident (even the csm was agreeing with me) the woman was not having it. The csm even offered her another cupcake at the same price she said no it was the only one we had. So the csm left and I finished ringing her out. Then she wanted the cooperate number and my name. I gave her all the information And I said I'm sorry and as she left said no your not. I thought that was that till it was time for me to go on break. They called me in to the cash office and asked me about the cupcake (I guess the lady called corporate) and I explained. And we all started laughing. Even another csm asked if the cupcake was dipped in gold. I mean she must of really wanted that cupcake. Lol

- Corrected the problem by apologizing and asking her if she wanted a replacement.

- You got a manager involved immediately since the customer was being unreasonable.

If you hadn't gotten a manager involved, it could have resulted in some type of warning since corporations usually take sides with the customer. In this specific case, you got assistance and that is all you needed in case corporate did contact your location.

Some customers no matter how hard you try will always be unreasonable. At least you did your best to try to get her a replacement. Just keep up the positivity. Well done!

Date: 7/27/2017 12:58:00 AM  From Authorid: 60395    People can be so rude. I spent 8 years working in a grocery store. One lady got SO angry with me because I finished making a pizza for a customer who had ordered a few minutes before her before I started on hers. Only took me about 30ish seconds before I started on hers but she ended up calling the store director. We all had a good laugh over that one.
