I had a strange dream two nights in a row. In the dream there were many people in a house and I got the impression that they were family, but not anyone I knew. I was in the front room alone and someone came in and put a kitten in a metal cylinder that was about a foot high and about 10 inches across. I could see that the kitten was walking around inside the tube but seeming bored. A few moments later one of the people in the house came into the room with a cat toy and clipped it onto the top inside lip of the cylinder. The kitten immediately wanted to play with it, but it was just barely out of reach. Each time the kitten reached up to swat at the toy, the cylinder would rotate a bit and the kitten would run and try to swat the toy again. I'm not sure what this dream meant. I don't have any animals and with the exception of my daughter and her hubby, I don't have any relatives that live nearby. I appreciate any ideas you may have about my dream. Thanks |

That is such an odd dream! Ok, I'm going to begin by just talking about the various symbols and then maybe we can piece it together. The kitten = when I think or kittens, puppies, babies, etc, I think of innocence. I'm going to go with the idea that the kitten represents something perhaps innocent, naive, or inexperienced. The cylinder = confinement, a barrier, isolation. I think of the kitten being placed in the cylinder and seeming bored. An innocent being put into an isolation. I think of the kitten being somehow taunted by the toy in the cylinder since it keeps trying to obtain it but the toy keeps moving. Is it possible that the kitten represents you or some aspect of yourself? We all begin life innocent and are put into a "cylinder" by society. The strangers in your home are society itself, putting "you" or something innocent into this vessel. Our goals seem to dangle just within reach, but often when we try to obtain them society creates a hinderance (the cylinder rotating). Is there a goal you've been attempting to reach? Perhaps something you've wanted to do, but every time you get close to doing it something or someone rotates it just a bit out of reach? I'm probably way off base, but it was fun trying to analyze your dream! |

I absolutely love your interpretation of my dream. Each section of your response does make a lot sense and in a couple of areas in my life. There have been two main goals I've been attempting to reach, but with only limited success. I'm sure you are right-on in your assessment. Thank you very much. I honestly didn't expect such a complete and complex reading of my dream. You Rock !!! |
