I'll go first. Perhaps it would be easier for new members to join for free if they could contact admins through email rather than snail mail. A lot of people may want to join but may be unwilling to write a letter and send it through snail mail. Just a thought! ![]() ![]() |

First, I really love that you have never forgotten us here at USM Tina. I love reading your posts and knowing that you care so much about this community. I am really surprised when some posts come in and lots of the oldies (lurkers) pop on and make comments. We really do still have a lot of people who come by to see what is new here. I think your ideas are very good. I'll propose this idea about an email address to contact the Admin team to Admin-1 (George). ![]() |

I remember joining USM around age 12 as well! I hated going to recess so I would always go practice the organ in the church (I went to a catholic elementary school) or hang out in the computer lab and obsess over USM. I still like logging on when I have free time at work, unfortunately that hasn't been too often as of late. ![]() ![]() |

I guess that wasn't super helpful, I'm about to go through a mountain of paperwork but I'll try coming up with ideas as well! ![]() |

Hello Ginger! Thank you for the kind post. I think USM is a rare gem, we don't see such tight-knit online communities anymore. Most online forums and websites have devolved into a mass of insults and fights. :/ Bass Chick -- I hated going to recess too. I was teased a lot through elementary, middle, and High School, which is probably why the USM community meant so much to me. I would spend most of my weekends here and, although my friend never joined, we used to read the scary stories during our sleepovers and scare each other senseless ^_^. ![]() |

The biggest thing is that the website is out of date. If they updated it from the 90's style to something more current looking. I also agree with you that unsolvedmysteries needs a refocus on some of the horror, ouija, and haunting stories. Maybe since not many people post anymore we can find a way to rotate older post to the main page that could catch peoples attention. Also the thing that has happened is that websites like facebook let people connect easier than USM. You could also use that to your advantage and make groups on facebook and instagram where someone could do interesting updates to catch peoples attention like recent mysterious stories that have happened in the news, horror stories that have been shared, stories of members who have connected throughout the years, ect. I still drop in to USM from time to time. I love this place I have met some of my closest friends through this site. ![]() |

Some wonderful suggestions here! I like the idea of circulating some of the older stories. Maybe putting them as a "flashback of the day" or something on the main page. I'm not sure I would want USM to change the whole 90's look. It just wouldn't *feel* like USM anymore. However, I do like your idea of somehow connecting to social media. Perhaps someone could create an FB page with interesting updates, information, share articles and videos, etc. That way people would first see us on Facebook, become interested, and visit USM to read the actual stories/take part in the conersations. Thank you, Silversnake ![]() ![]() |

Regina is correct, the website is just outdated. The graphics are old school compared to today's graphics. Many websites allow their members now to upload their own pictures, graphics next to their names, change their font styles, etc. I do think USM could be re-vived, but it would take updating the entire site and re-vamping it to look more modern and to have more modern abilities. It would draw people in with all the new functions. I am not so sure the owner of the site wants to put all that work in though. It would probably require a lot of re-coding, which would be time consuming. ![]() ![]() |

I also really miss seeing the activity here. Ive had multiple accounts but Ive been coming in here for over 17 years. Makes me feel old to say that but this used to be booming. Now when I stop in its like seeing your childhood home covered in cobwebs. Tis a very sad affar indeed. ![]() |

I just logged on for the first time in a few years. Crazy that I can still remember the original complicated login info (from when I was also 12! USM was tops for 12 year olds back then, I guess!), but I forget things that just happened recently in life! Haha. I actually popped into this post because I was thinking how nice it would be if USM had an app for phones. Especially the chat feature, something I really miss from my old USM days!! Or making the site mobile-friendly would go a long way, too. If I had the brains for creating things like that, I’d be all over it, but sadly that’s not in my wheelhouse. ![]() |

Same Sailor Sun. In all my years using a laptop, I've never learned how to code or do really much of anything worthwhile. lol. ![]() |
Date: 12/1/2021 12:25:00 PM From Authorid: 67815 This is an old post, but I wanted to reply. I too used to frequent USM back in the day as a teenager. Ghost stories is what brought me there. Now im in my mid 30's and one day this site popped up in my head and I had to go search it. I know its not as active as it was in its prime but I think its awesome that there are members keeping this site alive. Maybe one day the chat will be vibrant as it once was? |
