The accident occurred 2 weeks ago. So, should I get a lawyer to deal with my own insurance company?
I have a policy that covers me for bodily injury cuz we have full coverage. I haven't signed anything yet about the $ for my car. It's complicated. I know y'all aren't lawyers necessarily, but I need advice.
Of course my company seems cooperative now, but I'm already feeling overwhelmed, so I know a lawyer will help. I am worried the amount of money they will take.
My car was totaled. It was a 2009 Honda Civic that I owned and I'm getting a comparable amount for a car of its year and mileage back but I feel I could get more.
I also have to submit a body/injury claim that is a one time settlement. I have to pay out of pocket for medical expenses, I'll submit paperwork and they take that amount out of my settlement.
People I know have advised me to get a lawyer and I have a few referrals I can talk to even. I just don't even know how to go about this or deal with this.
Thank you for any suggestions that can guide me in what to do. I've not dealt with anything like this before nor did I know someone who has.
