Maybe it is just your location of Amazon. My daughter worked for a few years at Amazon in downtown Seattle. She worked in the advertising section for children's toys. She really liked the company and the people she worked with. They also let the employees have many things that didn't sell well online. She got boxes of books and CD's free of charge. She also liked that they would allow her and her family to shop in the Amazon discount warehouse. We went many times with her, and got some really amazing deals there.
Try to stick it out. Maybe things will get better, or you could request a transfer to another department. There are a lot of perks and room for advancement. |

Two things on this interesting post: One is I love Amazon... had some hiccups, and they've been nicely handled, and the computer process remembered an old credit I had. Next thing, I have two friends that each have a new job. And there is just something so special about new jobs. The newbies and the long termers. So I will keep you in my thoughts as you turn into an old timer and can keep the thrill of a newbie. Congratulations. |

I guess it is kind of like working for UPS, boxes everywhere. Even though you say the people don't care about their jobs, it may be that they just have no room to grow in their current roles. The job sounds low key. On the positive side think of this way, at least you don't have to wear uniforms/suits coming into work everyday right?
Either way, stay for at least 6 months to a year if you can. I know many people who were trying to get into Amazon, but couldn't. This will be great experience on your resume! |
