Date: 1/3/2017 8:21:00 PM From Authorid: 16373 So true Ranger! I aim to start back being more social on here again. Not just for me but because of the way George and Ginger has made this site. It has caused so many beautiful friendships, awesome memories. We've become family at one time and most have strayed away for different reasons and some have passed away. So many here have made positive impacts on atleast one person. I can come here and read moms posts and its like hearing her tell what shes wrote all over again. Mom was such a kindred spirit, so humble. We've laughed, we've cried, we've debated but all in all, we've become family to many here at one time and i miss that. I know alot of ones we became family with at one time are not here but theres always room for new family as well as hoping some of the oldies thats still here on earth will come back. USM is like ur old stomping grounds, u might leave but u always come home. Hugs!! |

What a wonderful post Ranger!!! I read it aloud to Radman and we both agree and we couldn't have said it any better. USM has been an amazing place and truly a study in human interactions. My husband and I can only take credit for creating an environment for visitors to come and share their stories, ideas and comments. Every member here has made this community what it is today. Smartphones, social media and online gaming worry me a great deal. I do feel that this generation will be tested, because their creativity (I believe) has been sorely severed. I don't know that there will be a return to 'normal' conversing in the future. The blurbs that have become standard do nothing to show true friendship and caring. This just shows us that a place like USM is needed and wanted by those who want to actually use more than 2 or 3 words to express ourselves. Ranger, your experiences with the Muslim young lady that you didn't handle well is a prime example of how we all need to understand each other better. George and I have similar experiences during our time here on USM. Getting to know and understand more about different religions, beliefs and cultural differences has helped us grow exponentially over the past 20-some years. I often have wondered how our friends like ABSZ have been over the years. I'm not sure if it was her that you were speaking about ... but she was indeed a wonderful individual trying to deal with many things in this world. This 'Place of Memories' has created so many 'family' in our hearts. From Pinky, Linda, Crash and Thunderhead to all the rest who will never be forgotten, and the new friends we can meet everyday here. USM will live on forever!!! Thank you Ranger for being part of this. We recall fondly our time spent with you at the Alabama Get Together. Hopefully that can happen again!!! |
