The Bible teaches us that to everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the Heavens (Ecclesiastes 3). Our world and indeed our entire universe revolves around constant cycles and rhythms. Here on Earth, each season brings its own unique function; New birth and regeneration of life in the spring, growth and fruition in the summer, harvest, a slowing down and dying back in autumn and dormancy and rest in the winter.
Although some scientists still insist that our universe came about purely by accident via the big bang, and that life sprang forth on our planet spontaneously, some scientists have now come to realize that the probability of spontaneous life generation is extremely remote. When you take into account the fine tuned precision that holds the multitude of stars and planets in careful balance, and the precise conditions that are necessary to generate and maintain life on our planet, it is easy to see the divine hand of intelligent design at work.
The Bible teaches us that in the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth (Genesis 1:1). But, because of Adam and Eve’s fall in the Garden of Eden so long ago, sin was introduced into our world, and the perfect, sinless environment of Earth was interrupted. Even so, God did not destroy us as He could have done, but He so loved the world that He gave His only Son (John 3:16) so that we could, through His death on the cross, achieve what we could never have achieved on our own…forgiveness for our sins and reconciliation to God.
Yes, the phrase, “For God so loved the world,” reverberates with power down through the ages. He created this world out of nothing, lovingly formed us with His own hands, then when He saw our greatest need, sent His only Son to die for us that we might be saved and have eternal life.
