Bev's time at ITT Tech and Now SFCC - RAMSES

Bev wanted me to share that she is going to SFCC and will not be back for a while, she is really swamped with school.

From September 2012 to June 2014 Bev went to ITT Tech. While she was there I have seen her grow so much as a person.

She learned how to research and is really good at it, she learned about cabling, running data cables in buildings and no matter how bad things got with other students or professors, she never let it get her down.

For her final, because it was a group effort, she did most of the work, she had to come up with templates, reword them to make them unique, the fake business name, Quadrant Dynamics had to be on the pages, with all four of the names of the group members.

She did the ghant chart (whatever that is), she bought the binder, set up the binder, did the research of what she needed to do, made phone calls to real companies saying, "Hi I am going to school and I am sorry, I am not ordering anything, I need to do some research about your products..."

I know she had to call England and a company in Australia once, (they have these great security cameras on a bridge someplace), she had to call up companies about raised flooring, doors and I forget what else.

Each one of them was to do a part and send her information, never happened. Twice she drove out an hour and a half to meet with these guys, the first time it was a no show, no call. The second time she had called first to make sure they would be there. They said they would be.

By the time she got there, they all bailed, no one showed.

In short, when it came time to present, she was ready the other three members of the team were not. All of the groups were supposed to present on a particular day, Bev was ready the other team members had to post pone for a week, followed by another week.

The excuse one guy said, "Oh I had an inspection at work that had to be dealt with all this week."

The other two guys: wait for it: gave the same excuse.

In the end they all got an A for the course. Bev had a 3.8 GPA and when it came to the award ceremony, "This award is given to those who strive to go the extra mile, who go above and beyond, we've watched her grow and seen the effort she put in day in and day out..."

I was there with Alan a very good friend of ours and he and I looked at each other, we were ready to get up and cheer, he told me, "Be loud."

And it wasn't Bev that they called. It was some other woman, who pranced all around, blew kisses and was just over the top. Some one who would be late for class or leave early or not show up, she was there of 3 quarters out of 7, the other four she was taking online courses through ITT.

Bev, nearly failed one course because she was in the military and sent to Guam. It should have been excused and the professor dinged her for it anyway.

It turns out, ITT lost it's accreditation in 2004 so the diploma isn't worth the paper it's written on.

Now Bev is going to SFCC (Spokane Falls Community College) in Audio Engineering, (learning how to run a soundboard).

She really loves it and is doing really well, though she is only starting her third week tomorrow. So far she is maintaining 3.7 Average, she has a total of 17 Credits this quarter. It seems SFCC is much more promising!

Date: 10/3/2016 5:14:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    Congratulations Bev...Ramses....A Gantt chart, commonly used in project management, is one of the most popular and useful ways of showing activities (tasks or events) displayed against time. On the left of the chart is a list of the activities and along the top is a suitable time scale. Each activity is represented by a bar; the position and length of the bar reflects the start date, duration and end date of the activity. This allows you to see at a glance:
What the various activities are
When each activity begins and ends
How long each activity is scheduled to last
Where activities overlap with other activities, and by how much
The start and end date of the whole project
To summarize, a Gantt chart shows you what has to be done (the activities) and when (the schedule).

And people who get recognition who didn't really earn it. But Bed can have the satisfaction of knowing it was her hard work and dedication that got the job done. And that will pave the road to success for her when she enters into her chosen field of work. She you and her other family and friends know to whom the credit belonged and she can take great pride in that. Food luck with her new educational pursuits and I hope it's smooth sailing for her
Date: 10/3/2016 9:40:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 63575    Zema, Yeah I knew something about the Gantt chart, I remember Bev's name was on it and it had everything she was supposed to do in the scenario and her 3 partners names were in it, but it was all blank for them because they never gave her any information as to what they were doing. Thanks Lady Phoenix! It's appreciated! SFCC seems to be a lot better!
