Our Newest Addition to Our Cat Family: Brutus - Ramses

Over a year ago, a big black and white cat was terrorizing our cats. Bev and I weren't sure if he was a stray or not.

After I don't know how long exactly, Bev was able to coax him into the shed and then put him in a carrier. I was at work at the time.

Our other cats were extremely healthy so we made sure he wasn't eating out of their food or water dishes, we didn't want diseases to pass from him to the other cats.

It took us a little while to get him to the vet office, they are the best vet office I have ever been to, ever.

So Brutus got tested for several different things, all negative, got rabies vaccinated, got fixed, got de-wormed and they told us that as long as he didn't fight with the other cats that he should be okay with them.

Well, he had to stay in the shed by himself for a few days, the other cats would be out during the day and be in at night. We found he still had worms so he had to get a second dose, which wasn't bad, I just squirted the whole thing down his throat. He wasn't happy but at least he took it.

When Brutus finally did go outside, we found something absolutely amazing:

Brutus stopped chasing the other cats. He completely mellowed out. Now, he sleeps with the other cats, licks their heads, nudges them while inside the shed at night or outside. Brutus is a very playful kitty, especially when it comes to pine cones.

He is a cat with many expressions and he just loves to run back and forth.

The other cats now, follow his lead. It is just a guess, but we figure he is about ten years old, same age as the two brothers 1230 and Midnight. Brutus is like an adopted brother to them.
