Any turtle experts?

About a month ago we got a red eared slider turtle. We've been doing a lot of research but everything we read says something different. I'm trying to figure out the correct way to feed it. I was feeding it a couple pellets in the morning and again at night until we read something about the turtle over eating and getting pyramid shell or shedding a lot. We noticed it looks like it's shedding so I cut back on the amount of food. We've read to only feed it every 3 days, feed it a portion the size of its head once a day, feed it every other day...and so on. What is the right way? The turtle is about 1 1/2"-2" right now. I want to make sure it's happy and healthy. Thanks for your help!

Date: 8/3/2016 6:31:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 61673    We have googled over and over and read tons of different articles. Each one says something different. I'm wondering if there's anyone who has had these turtles and has had hands on experience with then and knows which one of the handful of ways I've read to feed the turtle is the correct way.
Date: 8/4/2016 6:11:00 AM  ( Ki-Admin )   Turdles are such cute creatures....take it to the vet...sometimes they eat stuff thwur not suppose to.
Do you let it roam around the house?...make sure the area is bice abd clean.
Date: 8/4/2016 8:23:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 61673    No,I don't let it roam around the house.....it's very tiny right now and you're really not supposed to handle them more than you have to because they can get annoyed and bite you. It doesn't eat anything is not supposed to because it status in the tank and I feed it what it eats. We clean the tank every one or two weeks depending on how is looking. These are tons we already know. What I'm asking is can someone... who has had hands on experience with turtles please.... tell me how often am I supposed to feed it and how much of a proportion? Thank you
Date: 8/20/2016 7:08:00 PM  From Authorid: 21435    When I was a youngster, I found a baby snapping turtle, bought a big bowl and made it a home. It was easy to feed `cause it ate most anything I put in there. Flies and other bugs, grass shrimp, tiny minnows, bits of steak- That turtle ate it all. I kept it `till it started to outgrow it's bowl, the I released it back to the river bottom. I had good times with that turtle. Enjoy, Nikki and write on....
Date: 9/5/2016 11:53:00 AM  From Authorid: 52489    My sister and brother in law have a turtle. One of the things they do is change his water twice a week. And here is the interesting thing: they du,p the turtle-water onto a rubber tree growing in their stairwell, and the tree loves it! That tree is now thirty feet high, I guess turtle fertilizer is great for trees! And the turtle loves having fresh water. As for food, they feed him every other day. They also make sure that he gets out onto the grass a couple times a week, too.
