Oh this sounds absolutely delicious !!! I just ordered some Spirulina to add to my daily smoothies. Since I never put away my Vitamix, I think I would just toss this recipe together fresh every day. I think fresh juices have kept me and my hubby healthy and keeps the sickie bugs from invading us. I usually grab any and all veggies and fruits I have in the kitchen and pantry and make my juices. Since the Vitamix does such an excellent job of rupturing the cell walls .. and making a puree of everything .. even my hubby doesn't complain too much .. :P |

Date: 5/14/2016 9:09:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28363 You're correct Ginger - It is absolutely delicious. The body tastes it and wants more. I know your juices and love filled cooking keep George happy and healthy. Alright now |
Date: 5/14/2016 9:27:00 PM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28363 Tonight I made a fruit smoothie - frozen and fresh bananas and strawberries, pineapple, chobani flip, v8 pomegranate berry blend, orange juice and almond milk. It made 3 pints |
Date: 5/14/2016 10:26:00 PM From Authorid: 998 OK, now your just teasin' us with your strawberry tropical concoction ... That just sounds like a bit of heaven in a glass !!! I would probably sneak a bit of protein powder into it. The chobani flip .. hmmm, isn't that the yogurt with the granola/seed mixture on the side. How did you incorporate that into the smoothie? |

The smoothie I made this afternoon wasn't nearly so exotic .. but I know it was excellent for us. 12 ounces of my home brewed Kombucha, 1 apple-seeded, 1 banana, 4 strawberries, 2 large leaves cabbage, 1 carrot, 1 florette raw cauliflower, a bit of raw broccoli, 1/2 c. yogurt, 5 Tbs protein powder, 2 c. kale/chard/spinach-raw, 1/2 avocado pit<--I know, sounds weird, but is soo good for you. Ice. One and done, and I know we have fed our entire being with health-i-ness !!! |
Date: 5/15/2016 4:32:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28363 lol Ginger - my fruit smoothy recipe calls for yogurt and all I had was the flip. I will admit the blender complained a little bit crunching up the nuts. And your concoction sounds like it will grow hair. woo hoo |
Date: 5/15/2016 9:02:00 AM From Authorid: 998 Well then my smoothie must be working overtime Donno, because my hair is about 3 inches from my ankles ... LOL. |

You can read about the avocado pits online and the benefits of them. I only use 1/2 of one per smoothie for George and I. If you take a tiny taste of the pit, it is pretty bitter .. but after it is pureed in the blender with fruit, the bitterness goes away. I basically do research on almost every seed or pit. If it ain't poisonous or otherwise unhealthy, then it goes in the blender. I figure that the seed for most foods are the potent representation of what they are to become once sprouted and growing .. so most of them must be excellent to eat .. ummm, drink ... Squash seeds, melons seeds, you name it .. I have probably blended it |
Date: 5/16/2016 7:18:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 28363 You must have a Vitamix blender - I'm not sure my blender will crunch an avocado seed. I will look into. Thank you |
Date: 5/16/2016 12:59:00 PM From Authorid: 998 Yep, I have a Vitamix. It's my favorite appliance in the whole house !!! |

Thanks for sharing the recipe! This is very close to the recipe that I use every morning for my smoothie. There are a few changes that I make, and here is why I make them. Bananas contribute to belly fat. I have replaced them with Granny Smith apples. Cilantro gives me acid indigestion, so I use pineapple chunks. I also throw in two tablespoons-full of hemp powder for added protein and fiber. And no, this will NOT make you test positive for drug use. I checked! |
