The Selfish Me........................~Wise

Well Friends I have had a Career for 40 years with the last 9 really busy. It comes to an end. So in the true since of being the poor rhymer here is my rhyme thoughts on the subject. I have checked off many a duty and experience this year with..."This is the last time I will do this"............ For the record I have been in my career in two states for 40 years........... however I have been drawing paychecks since I was 12. Look out Social Security.


The Selfish Me

Another notch in the stick
Another mark for my time
Nothing but a lick
It’s not a straight line
What A trip on this road
What a ride it has been
Time to lighten the load
Think I’ll be writing again
Second career now closed
To a new place to move
Think on stories and prose
Nothing more to prove
The stick has a tale
Of all the things I have done
Sometimes I failed
Sometimes I won
Every move I make
Another duty ends
The paths I take
There are forks and bends
Will I do this
Or will I do that
Not going to grow old
Can’t sit and get fat
Passport in hand
Pen in my kit
Where ever I land
Will be for a bit
No muss
No fuss
No hurry in my step
No clocks
No docs
No worry If I over slept
I am done
It’s been fun
Now I am free
I resign
I retire
Here comes the selfish me
