Mizon Snail Repair BB Cream .:PatchouliMoonsong:.

Yes folks, it's been a while, but it's that time again!

This review is for the Mizon Snail Repair BB Cream. This product was recommended to me by a fellow pale person after I lamented about how I can never find a BB cream that matches me. She said it was the perfect shade for her and after looking up some images on Google, it looked like it would do the job for me as well. I'm also a huge fan of Mizon's other snail products and I've never been let down by them yet!

I did the typical arm swatch and surprise, surprise. It was dark and orangey against my fair complexion. :/ I would show a picture but oddly, each one I took didn't properly demonstrate the contrast between my skin and the BB cream. And what's even stranger is that when I applied it on my face, it looked...perfect. I took photos of my face with and without the flash and it looked like my skin. It totally matched. However, as soon as I tried to blend it down to my neck, there was an obvious line of demarcation where the BB cream ended and my skin began. Well, I guess that's not too weird. See, my face is actually darker than my body. It's not so obvious that you can just look at me and tell, but it's noticeable when I put my hand up to my face.

As I still wanted to do the review proper, I left the product on the whole day to see if the quality was any good. This product really isn't heavy and a few minutes after I applied it, my face felt dry. Like, not dry as in I need moisturizer STAT, but dry as in I could rub my cheek and the product won't smear off. The coverage is amazing for something that feels like it's not even there. It covered up the stubborn red discoloration in my cheeks, on my nose, and it covered my eye bags without looking thick or cakey.

No matter how much primer I apply or what brand of primer I use, I always get creases where the wings of my nose meet my face. Those creases are a given. I didn't apply any primer prior to putting on the BB cream and I didn't experience any creasing other than in the nose area. My eyelids are typically oily and they were still fine throughout the day.

So, would I recommend this product? If you aren't my shade of pale, absolutely! At roughly $9-$10, it's definitely worth the price, and it has SPF in it so you don't have to fiddle with the sun screen. :)

So, concerning this BB Cream ... did the line of demarcation change over the hours you kept it on, or did it stay the same? I love BB Creams, and they seem to work much better than conventional foundations. Thanks for the review !!!

Date: 3/24/2016 4:48:00 PM  From Authorid: 998    OK, one more question ... why the name 'Mizon Snail'? Is it just a fun or silly name, or (gulp) .. are there snails in the cream

Now, if there are snails ... gotta ask WHY ??? If you know, that is. They are the one critter I do kill in my garden, even though I'm the type that won't hurt most bugs. It might creep me out just a bit to think of putting snail guts on my face

Date: 3/24/2016 6:03:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 66755    Well, Ginger, the BB cream stayed about the same as the day went on. It sort of lightened a little, but it was still pretty obviously not a good shade for me.

"Mizon" is the name of the company and "Snail" means it has extracts of snail mucous in the product. Snail products are meant to improve skin elasticity and is ideal for dry, acne-prone, and/or aging skin. I know it sounds gross. I was a little hesitant at first myself, but I can honestly say my skin hasn't been this good since I was a kid. My skin isn't acne-prone, but it's really super dry and flaky. After using various snail products, no more dry, flaky skin! I even got my sister to try them after hearing all these people suffering from acne and acne cars rave about how snail products helped fix their skin. She has sensitive, acne-prone skin and has really bad acne scars from her teen years. She told me she's seen an improvement in her skin, too, after using them.

Date: 3/24/2016 9:30:00 PM  From Authorid: 998    OK, I'm not quite sure if I liked my supposition that they might be putting snail guts in the cream, or the reality of the added snail ingredient being the slime trail they leave behind.

Unfortunately the rainy climate we live in here just outside Seattle creates the right environment for the shell-less snail .. 'the slug'. Too many times I have started gardening, without getting my trusty gloves first. That slug slime slathered on my hands gets me running to the sink, quickly. I can handle dirt .. but slime, yuk ???

Now, your review sounds so good, with the exception of your color match .. I'm kind of guessing that I would try it. I know, you didn't see that coming from me .. did ya

Other than this BB cream, I've never tried Mizon's cosmetics. I've used their snail skincare line and it's the bomb diggity. Right now I'm using a different snail skincare line from a company called Holika Holika just to see how good it is and I really like it. I even have their snail cleanser, lol! Speaking of which, I don't know what your face is like, but if you have problems with dryness like I do, avoid foaming cleansers as those are meant for oily skin and thus are quite drying.

Date: 3/25/2016 9:04:00 PM  From Authorid: 31765    I'm pale as a ghost but dark circles under my eyes. Will if help the.circles? If yes where do I buy it?
Date: 3/26/2016 9:58:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 66755    Altaira, it did cover my dark circles, but they're so super bad to begin with. I've been using eye creams to lighten them and they're definitely lighter than they used to be.

Here's a trick I learned that really does work. It's going to sound weird but I promise you it will work. Take a peach/coral colored lipstick and apply it to your under eye area and that will cancel out the discoloration of the bags when you put concealer or what have you on top. You'll hear a lot of people using red lipstick for the job, but don't do that. Red works on darker complexions and peach/coral is more suited to lighter complexions. I hope this helped!

Oh, I'm sorry! Before I totally forget your last question, I got this product from eBay for about $9.

Date: 3/27/2016 1:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 31765    Oh great advice! I don't have an eBay account so I'll see if I can find it locally. When I look in the mirror all I see is the dark circles. concealer makes them even worse. Between illness and medications they seem to be making a trek across my face. Definitely going to try the lipstick trick. Thank you!
Date: 3/27/2016 1:22:00 PM  From Authorid: 31765    I think I found it at target but I'm not sure it's the same thing. There's no bb in the name. What's bb stand for?
Date: 3/27/2016 3:53:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 66755    You're welcome! BB stands for "blemish balm," though I've also heard it stands for "beauty balm." Basically meaning it's meant to conceal blemishes and uneven skin tone without being heavy like a foundation.
Date: 3/30/2016 11:43:00 AM  From Authorid: 31765    I'm in! I'm totally going to try this.
