Furry Friend Unable to Walk - Am I facing the inevitable?

Hi guys,

I've had my dog for 12 years and she's the sweetest thing ever.  The other week I found that she was unable to walk (both front and back). She isn't in any pain (which the vet says is a good thing).
The vet has given her some medication, but we don't have acceess to sophisticated vet clinics that can run an MRI or do a surgery that may mainly only be exploratory.  Nothing conclusive.

I'm went to an alternative medicine vet clinic to see if she gets any good results (mentioned by our vet as an option since the other options are too expensive for us and too far for my family).
I want to give her another week or so to see if she gets better, but some others in my family think I should just get it over with and put her to sleep.

My heart is breaking for her watching her like this, but I also don't want to put her to sleep if she  sees improvement in the next week or so.

I don't know what to do and maybe I'm just prolonging the inevitable.

What would you guys/have you guys done in this sort of situation?
