Hi yall! So, I've been doing some obsessive internet shopping lately and ran across this company mentioned on Reddit. If you're a foodie-scent lover, this place is your holy grail.
CocoaPink is based out of Georgia, and they make all of their perfumes, hair, and bath & body products to order. Whatever you get hasn't been sitting on a shelf for an unknown amount of time, which is great as scents have a tendency to turn over time, as anybody who has ordered a discontinued fragrance from their past and been disappointed can tell you (me. I did that. I cried.) CocoaPink has unique scent notes, including smoke, myrrh, metal(!), ice, leaves, and good googly-moogly those food notes are delicious. Cake, marshmallow, vanillas, and chocolates are prevalent in their list of scents. You could spend hours going through that list. I did. They have various categories to help narrow your search if you have a particular scent you like. All scents are available in the hair & body care as well. They have seasonal releases and do some fun ghostly-themed ones with names like Stanley Hotel, Myrtles Plantation, Zombie Apocalypse, Fear of Cemeteries, etc. Very cool. With full sized bottles, you can choose the intensity; The options are light, normal, and smell me across town.
Turnaround time varies depending on demand. Currently it's 10-14 days, but during the holiday season it's stated as 30-45, but usually doesn't take that long. I ordered after Black Friday and it took about 3 weeks. I ordered a 6 dram sample pack, $24 after shipping.
Scents & Descriptions: Ghost Train of Gettysburg- I'm a sucker for fun names. Scent notes: Blackberry, smoke, metal, oak. The prevalent scent in this is the blackberry, followed by metal. It's like wandering by a blackberry bush before a thunderstorm hits with that metallic ozone smell. I was most excited about this one and it's uniquely beautiful.
Come Hither- Vanilla and myrrh. I wanted to have babies with this scent, but had to settle for buying a full size bottle. It's an incredible warm, sweet scent that any vanilla lover would adore. The closest thing I can compare it to is cookies. I have a wax melt that smells like it, Vanilla Cookie Crunch from Better Homes and Gardens. It's addictive and I've gotten nothing but "GOD YOU SMELL GOOD" feedback. And boy, do I ever. The description says it isn't goodie, but it totally is and I'm more than okay with that. DON'T LET THEM TELL YOU WHAT TO BE, COME HITHER!!! This was my absolute favorite and my new signature.
Shampure (Aveda type)- Ever had one of those breakups where you stand in the shower trying to scrub the pain and dirty off, wailing "why won't you just leave me alone!?!"? That was me with this. It does smell like Shampure, but it's STRONG. Even after my wailing-shower (that actually happened) I could still smell it on my hand. For two days. It's an overwhelming herbal scent that's getting diluted into a salt spray for my hair because it's never touching my body directly again. Lots of ylang ylang and eucalyptus. LOTS. OF. THEM.
Confederate Jasmine- This is beautiful. I've smelled a lot of jasmine in my day, and rejected most of it. There's usually an animalic note to it that's almost fecal and suffocates the heady, flowering gorgeousness that is jasmine. They've somehow managed to blend the jasmine in such a manner that it's got a fruity opening, but dries down into a gorgeous, true jasmine that we smell when the flowers are blooming and the hot summer night intensifies it.
Baby, It's Cold Outside- Named for the wintry-roofie tune, it's got a beautiful blend of blackberry crumble, vanilla, caramel, and smoke. The blackberry note they use is just outstanding, and with the smokey gourmand background it's fascinating. Their smoke note is also phenomenal. This one is definitely a niche scent as it won't appeal to everyone (then again, what does?), but it's a great cuddly scent for a cold night.
Black Kittens- This is one of their best sellers. It's a lemon vanilla scent with a drop of oud. It smells like a lemon glazed yellow cake, but the oud changes it into something more grown up. Which apparently I cannot handle, even at 29. To me, it smells like a cake that someone sprayed down with lemon Pledge. I tried to wear it for 3 days before I finally had to accept that I smelled like a freshly polished dining room table with a cake sitting on it. Le sigh.
They give out samples as well. I've gotten 2 body butters with my perfumes. One is a scent called Strawberry Noel, which smells like a strawberries & cream cake. The other was called Haunted Carnival, and it had an odd combination of candy apples, chocolate, and popcorn. I loved the Strawberry Noel, but the Haunted Carnival just had too many strong scents competing with each other. Not bad, but overpowering. The body butter itself is an amazing formula which really helped my super-dry-because-nurse hands.
So there you go!! Basically, their foodie dessert scents are their specialty, but they do lots of things justice. They have hundreds and I'm sure you could find your Scents Charming waiting for you somewhere in there. They're definitely a standout company and the owner handwrites personal thank-yous on the order form.
