Once upon a time, a wealthy family lived in the forest.But the children had grown up spoiled. As a result, no one really cared for them. In fact, people went out of their way to avoid them.
One day, the siblings were out walking, and they came across a house made candy and sweets. Being so bratty, the children began to devour the house.
But no sooner had they reduced the house to crumbs, they saw an old woman staring.
“My home…” the woman said wiping away a tear.
“Was pretty good” Gretel smiled.
“You mean you’re the ones who ate my home?” the woman asked. She had come over, and had ended up next to Hansel.
“Aw, dude! It’s called deodorant, okay? It's not expensive” Hansel scowled.
“Hey!” the woman frowned clearly offended.
“Ya want some of the house back? Here, catch” Handel said, as he broke wind. The woman skirt danced in the manmade wind.
“Good one!” Gretel laughed, as the woman gagged.
That was when there was flash of light. When the dust settled, the woman had vanished, but a fairy was standing before them.
“Hmph, such brats…” the magical creature frowned.
“Okay, you have magic powers, but can’t even buy deodorant?” Hansel frowned.
The was when the two children suddenly found themselves looking up. The fairy seemed to have become much bigger.
That was when the fairy flew off.
“What happened?” Gretel asked.
“Well, you’re a mouse” Hansel frowned.
“So are you” Gretel frowned.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Like any child, both Hansel and Gretel were very unhappy at being separated from their parents, so they headed home.
But their mother didn’t recognize them. But they were grateful when she seemed to aloow them a place by the fire.
“I guess she misses us” Hansel frowned.
“But we’re right here”
“Yeah, but she doesn’t recognize us” Hansel frowned.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Weeks turned into months as the seasons changed.
Gradually, both Hansel and Gretel adapted to their new forms and began to finally see how hard their parents worked.
So they began to help them, whenever they could. Gretel would help with the garden, and Hansel would help keep mice off the property.
Still there mother seemed to accept them, but she would often stared out the window or walk around, as if she was looking for something.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ div align="left">Spring had come.
As Greta saw and old mouse in a corner she scurried over. The mouse seemed to be limping.
“Are you okay?”
“No, I broke my leg when I got attacked by a cat last week”
“Here” Greta pointed to her breakfast. “You can eat those if you want.”
“But isn’t that yours?” the old mouse asked.
“You have it, I don’t mind.”
That was when Hansel ran around.
“Snake!”
Sure enough the reptile saw them. Noting the mice, the snake slithered toward them.
Determined, Hansel and Greta stood in front of the old mouse, who squeaked din fear.
“It’s okay, we’ll keep you safe….”
That was when the snake began to grow smaller. In a few moments, Hansel and Gretel had become human once more.
Seeing them, the snake seemed to gulp in fear.
“You bully!” Greta yelled, punting the snake into the side wall.
“See if you can fly!” Hansel yelled, tossing the snake over the house. It landed near a squirrel, who licked her lips.
As Hansel and grovel embraced their parents, the squirrel settled down to enjoy a meal.
