Good day, USM! It's that time again!
First, I must confess something. Every year, Hot Topic has a sale (or a couple sales, I honestly can't keep track) where you can greatly discount the price of your order and I always have to indulge. I purchased tons of goodies for review, like perfumes and cosmetics. And of course I bought a butt-ton of incense. :)
Now, onto today's product: the Muertos perfume from the company Blackheart.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't drawn in by the packaging. Even though it would be a smarter move to purchase the smaller size to see if I liked the product, I went out and bought the full-sized version of the bottle because the larger one includes little red roses around the neck of the cap and I thought it was uber cute.
As for the smell, this is what the official product description says: "Dark crimson juicy pomegranate is blended with dewberry, star anise, purple jasmine, rosewood, blackberry, musk, tonka, and sandalwood to give this fragrance its rich exotic noir scent."
I'm only familiar with the scents of about half those ingredients. Still, I just got that feeling. You know the one; where you're certain you're just gonna like something.
Upon first spraying it, the scent is quite dark, but a good kind of dark; like a blend of sweet, exotic fruits. In fact, strangely, I would liken the smell to VS Love Spell if you added a little more fruity sweetness to the fragrance and took away the overpowering aroma of alcohol.
During the cool down, you can really smell things like the pomegranate and some of the other fruits that I can't identify. I almost want to skin my teeth into my arm!
The scent lingers for quite a while on your skin, but not overwhelmingly so. I applied this in the morning before work and I admit, I didn't get a chance to shower that night. By the afternoon of the next day, I held my inner elbow to my nose and the faint aroma of the perfume was still there!
The full-sized bottle is $16.50 and the smaller rollerball fragrance is $5. Not outrageous, but I feel the bigger bottle could be just slightly cheaper.
I like this fragrance and I would definitely recommend you try it. :)
