I woke up this morning thinking about Drakes pool...Drake high school...we used to climb that fence at night and go swimming..the fence had barbed wire at the top facing away so you could climb down the fence from the inside...but not up it from the outside...there was a way to get in from the woman's side over where the basketball courts used to be...I think that there in a different spot today. ....we use to sneak into drakes pool..1984 maybe....there where hand rails that ran along the outside of the women's locker room. ..if you stood on a hand rail you could pull yourself up to a lower roof top...once you got to the lower roof top you could pull your friends up and the there was a higher roof top 40 feet high...One person couldn't get up...it took a minimum of Two people to access the second roof...lol......you had to get boosted up by standing on someone's shoulders...so you had to climb up the,person....standing on their shoulders...then it was still a high grab for the roof...so if you couldn't do at least one long pull up ...there was no way.... We used to use such teamwork and there was no way one person could do it by themselves...and it was hard my sister tried couldn't get up to the second roof..so had to go down...once up on the second roof you could climb down the inside of the fence to access the pool....of course back up it too...the barbed wire faces out at an angle there was no way to climb the fence from the ground from the outside...we used to swim for hours jumping off the high dive at 3 in the morning...making all kinds of noise.... Sometimes The Police Would Drive through...You Could Always See The Headlights Reflecting Of Trees In The Field If Cars Were coming....The Cops Would Drive Through There at night sometimes...we knew when they were coming....so we would go into the water at the Deep end of the pool and swim up to the side of the pool right close to where the fence was outside...if we just held our mouths out of the water ,hugging the side of the pool when they stood only three or four feet from us shining their flashlights in to the pool area from the outside it looked like we weren't there... Of course the angle had to be so perfect that you couldn't hear for if you lifted your head high enough to listen in the water...with your ears out if the water they would be able to see you...so it was eerie because we couldn't hear a thing hiding just see lights flashing around and when the lights stopped flashing usually within a few minutes... What looked like an empty pool area of course the water moving ...around ..they knew someone within just seconds or minutes had been there...they would always assume we were still in the immediate vicinity...around search the school for us....lol...we would just be hiding in the pool the whole time...around mind go right back to swimming when they left...sometimes for 15 minutes they would search around the school thinking we were hiding there....we could see the headlight reflections going back and forth....looking for us ...those were the days....we never got caught and had to play that cat and mouse game 20 times during the summer.... Leaving was way easy....hard to get in easy to get out.....usually we had at least one girl to sneak in with us or we didn't feel like going ourselves....maybe it was the summer of 1985...it was a fun time....one time my friend Jim was acting stupid drank to much...and while I was swimming with my friend trina,,,in that pool he had gone back outside and dissappeared...the next morning we had heard right away about what had happened the night before...someone had gone and broken every fire extinguisher broke the glass and emptied the extinquishers.....Trina an I were laughing so hard she said she peed her pants that's how hard we were laughing because that night when Jim dissappear ed Trina as me swimming she would say shhhh! You hear that....and no of course yes I heard it....oit was Jim breaking the glass and emptying fire extinguishers...about once every few minutes...Trina and I would stop swimming and listen to the Crack. And swoosh...I didn't know what it was...it was about once every few minutes we would hear it and try to figure out what that sound was....Jim was walking through the corridors arriving at a new extinguisher every few minutes....breaking the glass and emptying the extingusher...that was a complete mystery to us until the next morning at school...when we understood what we had been hearing we laughed so hard I almost wet my pants too..I had to force myself to calm down ..we both couldn't even stand up an the whole school was watching us roll around upon the ground like freaks....but those were great days to me...
