Time for another product review!
Today's product is Jia LAN Dai waterproof brush liner, as it says on the package, and it is a Chinese eyeliner marker. I figured for the low price of 99 cents, it wouldn't hurt to try it out.
It's very opaque and very dark, just as I prefer my black liner to be. I mean, when you're buying black eyeliner, you want it to be pure black, right? Not a grey black. Maybelline has several different kinds of blacks and I just don't understand that.
Anyways!
Maybe it's just because I'm not used to using eyeliner markers, but this stuff was very hard for me to apply. I kept messing up! Normally what I do is I apply a gel liner as a guideline and then apply liquid on top of that. I just used this by itself to see the difficulty level.
I did an arm swatch and tried rubbing it with my finger once it dried and it didn't budge. It flaked a little, though, but remained intact for the most part. It also holds up very well against water.
I applied this right before bed to see if I would wake up with any irritation and to see if it would run/crease/melt at all. Now this is really strange. I'm used to my eyeliner maybe creasing in the corner of my eye or if I make the line too thick, it melts into the crease, but when I woke up, this product did not do any of that. Instead, it looked very patchy, as a lot of the liner noticeably flaked off. Evidently, this stuff does not handle well on parts of the body where there is lots of movement, such as the eye area. Even when you sleep, your eyes still move a lot, hence why you aren't put under when you're having surgery done on your eyes (but they still apply a topical anesthesia, don't worry!).
The plus side is this stuff was very easy to remove. It usually takes me a couple minutes to take off my liner since the makeup remover makes it melt and smear and all that, but this stuff came off with one swipe in clean flakes.
Oh, and before I forget, this stuff did not irritate my eyes.
All in all, I really don't recommend this product. The cheap quality really outweighs the cheap price, but I'm going to do a little more experimenting with this product to see if maybe I can get it to work.
