A Night to Remember, I Guess (Part 2)

We had recently moved from Georgia to Texas. We had lived in Georgia for over 50 years between us and both our parents were buried there, and all our siblings live there now. After living in Texas a couple years, I had been feeling a little homesick; missing the huge trees (our city has few trees), the hilly streets in the mountains of north Georgia and remembering the places I had visited over the years in Georgia. I never thought I would miss that Georgia clay or the plethora of kudzu along the highways or the humidity from satan's greenhouse that only people who have been to Georgia know about. But I do. My memories start me thinking , about my mom, my best friend, wishing I could talk to her cuz she always knew what to say to bring me out of a funk. Wondering if she somehow knew I was living in Texas, far away from Georgia. It was a bad night. I cried myself to sleep.

I was standing in the parking lot of our apartment building, waiting for my mom to pick me up. We were going to go to lunch together at the same restaurant we always went to. She was driving the big green "monster" of a car that she drove years ago. It was huge but the make & model eludes me. She used to drive sooo fast in that car, she made me nervous but she was an excellent driver and never got a ticket. Anyway, she pulled up to me in the parking lot and I climbed in. We got to the restaurant and ordered our favorite meals. I couldn't tell you what we talked about but we laughed and talked as if everything was cool and no problems, no worries. no pain.

Then she drove me back to the apartment and I told her I would call her when I can and she agreed. Just like old times.

Then I woke up. I believe God allows loved ones to return to earth to visit when it's needed most.

How it changed my life:

Reassured me that God is in control of my life.

Date: 7/7/2015 11:42:00 PM  From Authorid: 998    Love when loved ones come to you in a dream. I know they are with us, and in our dreams ... even more !!!

Oh my gosh, this post of yours made me cry. I miss my mother and grandfather so very much, and even though it has been years since they past .. I have the best dreams about them. It is just like yours, very normal stuff. I will just be sitting talking with mom, and when I wake up it seems like I was just there with her. It is so amazing.

When I dream about grandpa, I am walking through his garden with him then going back to sit on these strange metal chairs that were there forever. Those chairs always looked so uncomfortable, but when we sat in them, the hours would just fly by cuz we were talking with grandpa and he never ran out of stories.

I hope you get back to your beautiful Georgia someday. We drove through it a few years ago, and it was wonderful !!!

Date: 8/26/2016 10:52:00 AM  From Authorid: 25390    I love this story. A few months after my Gramma died, I was feeling pretty down and missing her terribly. That night, I dreamed I was sitting in her living room as we often did. She was sitting in her maroon recliner she always sat in, and I was rocking in my grandfather's green leather recliner (I always sat there when he was at work). The room looked as it did when I was a teenager. We were both sitting there watching television, but my grandmother sitting beside me wasn't talking. Instead, a younger version of her showed up on the television screen. She just told me how beautiful it was where she was and how much she knew that I missed her. But she told me that she loved me and everything would be ok.

When I woke up, it felt so real. But I felt a peace about me that day. I completely agree with you.

Date: 8/28/2016 12:22:00 PM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 63241    I believe God allowed your Gramma to visit you the same way He allowed my Mom to visit me...in our dreams. I felt that peace too, not so much sadness at her loss when I woke, but peace that she is in a better place and came to reassure me her love never ends. Just like your Gramma. Beautiful. Thanks Darla Kay/ODDY for sharing with me.
