While I was attending college in Irving, Texas I went to a swap meet and found a chair that I thought was really excellent. It had ornate wood with carved armrests, high backed with red plush fabric and looked fit for king. Most importantly, was within my price range, so for a mere twenty bucks, I had the chair I had been looking for. Or so I thought.
The day I brought my new chair to my apartment my girlfriend came over and helped me set up decoration lights inside my apartment. These lights were cool and seemed to sync up with the building A/C, sometimes whirling around one way and then the next.
As it got later in the evening, my girlfriend and I were playing Pente in the living room, having some drinks and the lights were dim. We were enjoying the ambiance of colors and the patterns created by the flashing indoor decoration lights.
As we were playing, facing each other with the game board between us on the couch, there was a noticeable change in the room. It was almost like being in a vacuum or like something had changed in the barometric pressure. There was also a change in the lighting, I looked to my right, my girlfriend looked to her left, and we both stared in disbelief at the new chair I had got that day at the flea market. Sitting in the chair appeared to be a person dressed in an ancient scribe's outfit. This figure also had a book or something in his hand and what seemed like an old fashion quill pen. Whatever was in the chair, was taking notes and was looking over at the two of us with an inquisitive intent.
My girlfriend looked at me and I looked at her, she said, "Do you see what I'm seeing?"
I said, "Yes, don't make any sudden moves, go to the front door and hold it open for me."
I walked kind of side-ways over to where the chair was, and did not look at the chair. I picked the chair up and walked outside, getting ready to throw the chair into the dumpster, but I hesitated. I didn't want to upset whatever was in the chair, so I just left it beside the dumpster.
I went back inside my apartment, my girlfriend and I just started freaking out and saying how we could not believe what we just saw, what a trip and all that stuff. We laughed and hugged each other and eventually turned in for the night.
The next morning we went out to the dumpster, and of course, the chair was gone. We wondered if the next person was going to get a visitor, who likes to take notes.
