Date: 1/25/2015 4:15:00 PM From Authorid: 40979 I think that like most things, people just get tired and bored of it after so long. A lot of people have left USM due to misunderstandings (I will leave it at that) and while that is not the entire reason the halls are so empty, I think it has contributed to it. As far as advertising goes, we ALL can advertise the site. At one point, there was an HTML code or something like that, that was floating around here. We were able to copy/paste it on our own pages so that when people clicked it, it would direct them there. I don't know if we still have it or not. |
Date: 1/25/2015 4:15:00 PM From Authorid: 40979 I still pop in from time to time and read posts or even make my own. I do not come as often anymore because there is nothing new to read and no one to talk to in the chatroom. |
Date: 1/25/2015 4:55:00 PM From Authorid: 28363 I think some of the language used to describe Usm is too harsh but I remember when the big board moved rapidly and you could get double digit replies to posts. Nowadays your lucky to get 2 or 3. You now have two replies so you are doing pretty close to average. Have a great day |

Most just got older, got busy, life happened. And some...I was banned for years, still don't know why. And politically, it seemed there was a double standard several years back. I noted some conservatives were quick to be judged, while liberals and dems were allowed to insult conservatives, yet they were never held accountable for being rude. At least that was my experience. It was also why I stopped visiting. |

Oh yes, Radman and I are still alive and kickin'. USM will always be here too. Many of our original USM-ers are still around too. As with many parts of technology, there are the new shiny things that get a great deal of attention. Twitter, dating sites, Facebook and such. However, USM has always stood the test of time. We have amazingly wonderful people who still come here. They care about each other, and offer stories and comments that are so much more than just a tiny 'like' button. We definitely need more posts about mysteries, ghostie stuff .. interesting happenings. I challenge everyone to put in a post a week at the very least. I will do this too. I'm sure that we will get much more interest and even newbies popping in to read what USM is up to. I still find USM so much more interesting than the other sites out there, and the people here prove that caring does exist !!! |

i'm still here! not like I used to be but i'm old and tired and busy!! |
Date: 1/26/2015 10:11:00 PM From Authorid: 38324 I know what your saying. This place isn't booming like it used to. I know I was gone for a long time, things just got busy and honestly I didn't have time for a lot of things that I used to do. But now I am back and I try to pop in everyday and read new posts and sometimes post my own. There are a lot of old members that have been awol (not sure if spelled right) and they may never come back but I am sure like myself, everyone is busy with their lives. A lot of us, as we get older we have other, more important priorities and USM gets put on the back burner. But no worries, there are still many of us left, some are just hiding in the shadows and will pounce when the urge strikes........lol. Anyway, look forward to reading your posts. Keep em coming Ranger. |
Date: 1/26/2015 10:24:00 PM From Authorid: 48250 I'm still here too! Always have & always will love USM & its Angels!!-----like every one; I get busy too but still so enjoy tremendously reading the posts & adding a few of my own when I can-----If there is One thing I have came to realize about USM., No matter how long I might be away, the feeling here has & will always be the same., as Ginger said, People do genuinely Care, it's more than a tiny "like" button-to me that's the lazy person's way of having to not get involved with others., I think there's too much "impersonal" happening these days, I want to see "Love in Action" I enjoy Caring, Sharing with others----I want to know what Others think, how they are feeling---what they enjoy, like or dislike-----with USM You can still do that, You can be "REAL" & whether its slow at times or not enough members posting, it will always be the beacon with the "Welcoming flashing Lights, just as it was all those years ago on a long Winter's night.....come to think of it kinda like on a night like tonight!------USM will always be the Number 1 site on the internet to me!---BTW, Ranger---Welcome Home~ |
Date: 1/27/2015 7:04:00 AM From Authorid: 66755 Lots of people lost interest with the passage of time and on top of that, are picky about how a website looks. The graphics for USM haven't changed in the 10+ years that I've been lurking, at least not to my knowledge, and even if they have, they still look very antiquated compared to other websites. I personally am not bothered by this. Since I've been frequenting the website for so long, the familiarity of its appearance is nostalgic and comforting to me, but for new people, it can be off-putting, which is a shame. |
Date: 1/27/2015 1:53:00 PM From Authorid: 64365 Actually, I prefer this website to any other because it is different, it's easy to navigate, and I find it very attractive. I could see where people would be picky if they had to pay a monthly fee to be a member, but this is free for everyone...except George and Ginger, that is. I appreciate what they have done, here, and will continue to be loyal to this site. |

Hey no matter what I do I always find time to try to come back to this beloved site and yes some of older members probably got busy with other things and decided to leave but its not Ginger and Raddy's fault its just life lol Anyway everyone here is trying to bring in a new crowd and maybe someday we can get all those people trolling on Facebook and Youtube to join lol . Maybe some kind of dramatic video with lots of cool effects and other stuff explaining how this site is the best thing ever with some really cool people Lets try for that |
Date: 1/27/2015 4:23:00 PM From Authorid: 5818 I think what drove some people away was the fact that we cant swear or even say anything dirty but that's what I prefer and love about this site you don't have to worry about what you might be reading here. If hey cant handle that well I don't know what to tell them |
Date: 1/27/2015 6:41:00 PM From Authorid: 11723 Well, I cant speak for anyone else. I came back after literally a 9 year hiatus. My reintro kind of explains where I've been in the in that time. Life got in the way. Different priorities. I'm just glad I was able to reclaim my old handle (Do the youngin's even call it that anymore?...ScreenName I guess would be a more appropriate term) |
Date: 1/27/2015 6:43:00 PM From Authorid: 11723 And I do remember back years ago, when you used to put a post, within a mere few hours it was already on a back page. |
Date: 1/28/2015 9:32:00 AM From Authorid: 64365 I can tell you one thing that might keep people from making replies, and that's lack of interaction from the author of the post. I get discouraged with making a reply to someone's post only to not be acknowledged by the author of the post. When I make posts I try to interact with everyone who responds and let them know I appreciate their comments. After my comments being ignored for whatever reason I am more proned to just read the post and not make any comments. |
Date: 1/28/2015 1:09:00 PM From Authorid: 42945 Hi Ranger, I'm still here hun although I do get busy from time to time with life..I guess it affects us all at times..I think though USM is like a lot of other websites in the fact that it has it up and down periods and people get busy in their lives and move on but they do return..It will be nice to see you posting again like in the past, some good interesting stories like you used to...*cheers* |
Date: 1/28/2015 9:37:00 PM From Authorid: 66755 We should fix this by posting more often! |

Date: 2/1/2015 2:12:00 AM From Authorid: 2005 I've been using this site for 15 years. I don't get on it much and usually forget to even check it for over a year because I do not like the layout. I can not find my profile, click on tabs up on the top because it is covered up by other tabs (very frustrating and confusing.) Also, I hate that you can not delete your stories. I have stories 12 years old and have found that person, but yet I have no way to take the stories down. I just don't care much for the site due to these issues. ...Oh, and currently I am trying to find my profile to update it. |
Date: 2/1/2015 4:47:00 AM From Authorid: 64365 Welcome back to USM, 2005. If you will look at the left hand side of the page towards the top you will find 'USM Junkie Profile'. Click that link and it will take you to your profile. It's located directly beneath the word AWARDS. |
