Florida Towns ~ David/Fearfactor

Some of the town names in Florida slay me. For instance, Mt. Dora? Come on, there are no mountains in Florida! The only real hills we have are ant hills, unless you go to extreme North Florida. Oh, and the Indian names will mess up anyone's dialect. Okahumpka? Okefenokee? Chattahoochee, Wimauma, Withlacoochee, and Dances with Wolves, Florida. I'm surprised there isn't an Indian Burial Grounds, Florida. Oh, there is? Perhaps, my favorite - Frostproof, Florida. "The name was a marketing ploy to convince potential landowners that the town has never had, and never would have, a frost that could destroy the large citrus-driven economy. However, only a couple of years later, a frost killed most of the citrus in Frostproof." Oye, Florida. The town's slogan is: "The Friendly City". Where have I heard that before? Oh, my hometown is also "The Friendly City". Which one is friendlier? I have no idea, I just know I wouldn't call Bradenton "The Friendly City" or "Bradenton". I think I might be moving to Yeehaw Junction, Florida one of these days. :)

Date: 1/29/2015 6:56:00 AM  From Authorid: 11723    I live in South Florida. In Palm Beach there is "Greenacres". No sign of Eddie Albert or Eva Gabor anywhere (or their shambling zombies). "Boca Raton" in Spanish literally translates to 'Rat's Mouth'.
How about "Kissimmee" (or how some pronounce it 'Kiss-A-Me!". "Yeehaw Junction", has been a favorite that I always pass that on the way to Orlando. "Celebration" another town outside of Orlando I think.
