Special Sort of Breeze
I was a young man like a big box of candy, Full of sweetness with a touch of fine and dandy, I wanted to be a cowboy and ride away on my pony, Learned when I got older how to be a phony, Lived by the code that I’ll do as I please, I was my own kind of special sort of breeze, I wanted to love all the ladies and steal them from their men, Come the morning light I would forget where I’d been, Learned to pay my rent and got smarter through the years, My heart was broken leaving her in her tears, The clock was ticking singing every second of my fate, Dawn kept breaking in the war of love and hate, Bear the scars of the lessons in the lines of my face, I gave up the beauty of her love and her grace, I have since learned reality along life’s funny way, You can see it in my appearance in a touch of grey, I am my own kind of special sort of breeze, But I’ve paid the price for doing what I please.
