Date: 12/9/2014 12:52:00 PM From Authorid: 55967 Here's my advice, White Rose. I personally took creative writing classes in the two colleges I attended, one a community college here in Harrisburg, PA, and the other at Frostburg State University. Never took an online creative writing course. However, I have learned a lot on my own. Fiction writing study comes down to three basic areas...grammar, vocabulary, and craft. For grammar, there are great free websites and some good cool books on it, the best being Strunk and White's. They are technical, so I would read up on the basics with another more entertaining one, then tackle that one. For vocabulary, I wouldn't worry about that too much. Best to stick with common words anyway, and read, read, read. Now craft...the best book I have for that is The Gotham Writer's Workshop "Writing Fiction." It is put together by real published writers, each taking a chapter, which cover plot, character, point of view use, dialogue, and all the other elements of craft. It is great. It has taught me a LOT. It also has recommended reading. The people who put that book together are also people who teach the "Gotham Writer's Workshop" that you can get online. So...with all that said, I would brush up on grammar, then get the "Writing Fiction" book and study it (can probably get it off Amazon), decide if I would want to take their course online (they tell you how in the book I believe), and read, read, read, and read some more. |

The first half is about him and his life, which is pretty funny and interesting. The second half is all about writing with him giving some great tips and lessons on it all. |

I learned more on my own then any class I took. The teachers always thought in order to write better, I needed to write like they did. Totally humble of them. LOL I've been writing fan fiction for 14+ years, and it not only helped me to write better, it helped me to develop my own style. Not to mention the feedback I get helps me know what needs to be polished. I'd just start with fan fiction...so that you get an idea on your strengths and weaknesses. |

I have to say this is my least favorite season so far. I lost interest in Once Upon a time over a season ago. I rarely find shows that I like. :/ I did recently discover two UK shows that I really liked, unfortunately they both only aired two seasons. The first is called Black Mirror and the other is Utopia (UK). You should check them out. |
