First, before I tell you about this, I must give a little technical background information so that what I say to and show you will make sense. Please bear with me, it may be a little long winded; saying things quickly with few details is NOT my strong suit! LOL I apologize! For anyone that hasn't seen my updates posts about it, I started school this quarter at a local community college (or junior college, whatever you know it as) for Photography. One of the two classes I am in is Photography 101, where we take pictures with an old-fashioned SLR film camera using black-and-white 35 mm film. Most people know of, and have seen, the large 8x10 black and white photographs. That is done in the darkroom using what's called an enlarger, which basically is a housing with a light bulb in it; there is a place you can put a film negative into, and you attach a lens (that works the same as on a camera). When you turn the light on, the light shines down through the negative and through the lens, and the picture shows up on the workspace below, which is where you put the 8x10 light-sensitive paper. You expose the paper with the image from the negative for a certain amount of time to make the finished print, which you then put through the developer, stop bath, and fixer. HOWEVER...the catch is that you can't just throw paper under there, expose the paper for a random number of seconds, and end up with a great picture that looks just right. You have to do what's known as test strips, to figure out the right time for the print (which is different for EVERY photo). Test strips is just photo paper cut up into small strips, that you expose under the negative at different times, to nail down the right exposure time for a whole 8x10 sheet of paper. OKAY! Now that we have THAT diatribe over with, LOL!, I will get to the point of the post. The quarter is over next week and I decided to turn in a couple of prints that I failed to turn in with a previous assignment, to hopefully get a slightly higher grade. I was doing test strips for one of them when I noticed what appeared to be a woman's chin and lips. I thought it was extremely odd, considering the negative has nothing even resembling that. A short time later, I was doing another test strip for that same print, when I saw more facial features! This time, it was eyes and a nose, very obviously of an Asian person (because of the way the eyes were). I showed it to people and they could also see exactly what I saw. Some of them actually said "There's a ghost around" and "this building is haunted". Well both of those things may really be true, although I've never seen any evidence of it other than this. Anyway, once I find a way to post photos on here, I will post the photos I took of the strip so you guys can see! I took two photos, each one from different angles.
