Oh yes, most definately, but the noise always seem to be coming from outside the home..where I live, noise does carry and I like you have heard what I thought was a shotgun going off, windows being broken and when we check it out there is nothing there..it is very unnerving and I find it very difficult to go back to sleep... |

i have had a similar experience.. was woken up suddenly by a sound of someone falling and hitting the floor. Then on another occasion it sounded as if someone drove their car into the back of the house. then on another occasion it sounded as if a huge bird hit the glass window trying to get out of the house.. heard the wings flutter/flap. but in each case .. nothing was there or out of place. I even went and asked the previous owner to make sure her husband didn't pass away in the house. (anyhow, these occurances would occur at night time... and I would be wide awake.. so no I wasn't dreaming. |

this happens to me alllllll the time, and has been going on for as long as i can remember. i have researched it, and the best i could come up with is that it is something called "exploding head syndrome". scary name, i know, but all it is is an auditory hallucination, that is usually a loud random noise or disembodied voice. i always hear my mom yell my name (but she lives 700 miles away) right in my ear, someone knocking on my door or window, or, the scariest one, a man's voice yelling something threatening like "get out!", "shut up", or something else mean. it can be very unnerving, depending on what the noise is, but i just chalk it up to my brain being super-electric. hope you find some peace in knowing what it could possibly be now. |

Wow, I am glad I'm not alone on this and yes, it is super scary especially when you think some intruder maybe breaking in. "Exploding Head Syndrome" now that is new and it does sound very much like what I've experienced. I'm glad you brought up hearing voices also because I woke up just recently to what I thought was a few people having a lively conversation near where I was sleeping. As soon as I jumped up, it stopped and after doing a sweep of the house... Nothing. I did have a really weird one happen in the old house where I lived before where I fell asleep in the front room on the couch and in the middle of the night, I heard a heavy knocking on the door followed by a male's voice saying "Sheriff's Department!". I sat up, bewildered at what I supposedly heard then looked outside and there was absolutely nothing anywhere either way down the block.
Thanks for all the comments and shared experiences! |
