I'll admit, I'm not a big perfume fan. You can take a perfume and give its 'unique' scent a pretty French name or a sultry name, but regardless of what it's called, regardless of the ingredients put into it, I'll take a whiff and they'll all have that...that 'perfume' smell. That smell that I can only describe as being like concentrated vodka and migraine-inducing chemical fumes.
I'm also not a huge fan of Victoria's Secret products. I feel like they're priced quadruple their worth and a handful of past purchases have only verified this. I mean, $8 for a goopy, average-performing lip gloss that tastes bad? That's so not cool.
All that being said, I was in my local Victoria's Secret the other day and I thought I would treat myself with a perfume that I fell in love with. That's right, fell in love with.
Noir Tease.
What first caught my attention was the bottle. I'm a HUGE sucker for vintage perfume bottles, specifically the ones with the pump bulbs. The bottle design is very elegant and classy. I feel like a rich housewife when I hold it in my hand and squeeze the hot pink pump. :) The bit of black lace attached to the pump is also a nice touch.
It does not have that 'perfume' smell that'll knock an elephant out with one sniff. It's very clean, kind of like a powdery floral aroma. The smell is strong enough to be noticeable, but not enough to be sickening or overwhelming. It lasts a really long time, too, especially when you do certain tricks that I'll go over in a separate post very shortly. When I got in the car with my mother hours after applying this stuff, the first thing she said was I smelled good.
The price is...steep. I don't know if the prices are uniform everywhere, but at my Victoria's Secret, the 50ml bottle is $45 and the 100ml bottle is $60. I decided to treat myself and get the 100ml, which was just shy of $70 with tax. Ouch. But 100ml is a lot of product, so this should last you a very long time. Regardless, I think when this runs out, I'm going to buy another perfume I like that smells almost identical and is significantly cheaper, but the scent doesn't last as long and is somewhat diluted in comparison.
I'm impressed at the quality of this perfume, given that it's a Victoria's Secret product and every other VS perfume I've ever smelled had that awful 'perfume' smell. Is this product worth its price? Even with tax? You betcha. ;)
