I love hearing about other peoples pets and furry companions. And it's so interesting each one has their own personality, even the smallest of critters thanks for sharing! |

Your furry family are just so sweet! Love seeing the photos!!! We don't have actual pets, however we see the wild animals that have adopted us everyday outside. Raccoons, white tail deer, squirrels, blue jays, chickadees, northern flickers, juncos among others. We have names for many of them, and know their personalities. |
Date: 1/13/2014 10:15:00 PM From Authorid: 48250 I love & enjoy the wildlife here where I am as well, Ginger....in fact when I returned home earlier in the evening, there were 2 yearlings & 2 does eating down in the lower field...I get such enjoyment out of watching them & feeding all the birds, too...My Older brother has been staying here with me & saw a bobcat early Saturday morning...I'm glad the dogs were all secured...sheesh what a mess that would have been! lol I enjoyed reading the comments, it's gonna be like old times around here again! |

KyBluebird, I would really enjoy visiting you I'm sure. I'm so glad your dogs were safe. Last month hubby was looking at a raccoon that was on our upper deck, and just then it got really nervous. George looked at something coming up the stairs to the lower deck and realized he was seeing a huge bobcat. He opened the sliding glass door and growled and hissed at it, but it just stared at him. So he picked up some peanuts and threw them at the cat. It ran away. We have had a brown bear in the area we are told but we haven't seen it yet. With a small creek and wilderness trail at the bottom of our property, and hundreds of trees it is no wonder we have so much wildlife around us. Each property owner has acreage and no fences really help. I can't imagine living in a traditional subdivision anymore. |
Date: 1/14/2014 9:35:00 AM ( From Author ) From Authorid: 27705 Ginger and Ky I wish I had wildlife near me. I live in the city. I have a rabbit that sleeps near my chimney for its warmth in winter but otherwise not much wildlife near my house. |
Date: 1/14/2014 8:50:00 PM From Authorid: 22721 I was my dog's mom for over ten years...she barking at the angels now. |
Date: 1/15/2014 8:47:00 AM From Authorid: 66331 I have a dog named Bubba, he is a rescue. He is a Great Dane and I think he is about 3 years old or so. My husband doesn't think he is a pure great dane because he isn't has big as some other ones we have seen. But to anyone not used to a large dog he is huge I also have about 10 fish, 3 glowfish, 1 beta and the rest are guppys. My husband does have a Taranchula, and its funny I dont like spiders but I finally got used to this one. I wont hold it that is for sure but I rarely see it. Its honesly a good pet, barely have to do anything for it, just give it water and crickets. I would also like to get a cat, I have always wanted a black cat and one day I will get one but not sure how Bubba will react to a cat |
Date: 1/15/2014 11:07:00 AM From Authorid: 11097 Oh Ginger! You reminded me of all my fuzzy, furry, and feather-y friends that live all around me! We have all kinds of animals around our home: swans, ducks, geese, woodchucks, deer- which are very friendly here and over the summer there was a family of skunks living in our backyard, one of them was all white! It was beautiful I love nature, it's one of the best things in life. |
Date: 7/27/2014 7:09:00 PM From Authorid: 67298 You guys ready for all of these? Well at my parents house (I am currently in Pittsburgh for school, but these are still my fur babies!) we have 2 dogs now (we just recently put our oldest down), 4 cats, and a guinea pig. I have 2 Tetra Glo-Fish in my apartment in Pittsburgh. Our dogs are Killr and Mowgli. Killr is a boxer mix who came from a shelter and Mowgli is a rescue dog from down south who was found after Hurricane Katrina. Our cats are Bessie, Pennie, Gary, and Cleo. They are also all rescues. Gary came from a shelter, Bessie walked up on our porch on Halloween a few years ago, Pennie was born to a barn cat, and Cleo was thrown out by our neighbors next door so we took her in. They are all just domestic shorthairs. Lastly, our guinea pig is all black and he is named Poe (after Edgar Allan Poe). I love all of my pets and I miss not having them here with me at school! But, they make the trips back home worth it and I am looking forward to moving in with my boyfriend back home and having fur babies of our own, he is a big big cat lover! |
