Does anyone have any home cures to help reverse peridontitis? ~TGF

I was wondering if anyone has any advice on things that someone with peridontitis can do to avoid the condition worsening and avoid tooth loss (besides brushing, flossing, and using a dental pick). I have almost meticulous oral hygiene, and have had especially ever since I figured out I have periodontitis, but it is still staying the same if not worsening.

I have acquired periodontitis (the next step after gingivitis) due to not being able to get on-schedule cleanings because of my insurance dropping dental care. I am a low-income person and obviously couldn't afford the costs it would have taken to get the cleanings done (and still can't either, but we'll get to that in a second). Well, due to not having that dental care, calculus and tartar built up on my teeth since it wasn't being removed, and has not started causing peridontitis (which I noticed at least 6 months ago) making my front lower teeth feel strange and sensitive, some jaw pain as of recently, and sensitive teeth (despite using sensitive-teeth toothpaste every time I brush). I probably now have several cavities as a result, none of which I can afford to get filled. I can't even afford to go to the low-income dental clinic. :( It's stinking ridiculous...

Anyway, if you or someone you know has had periodontal disease and has found a way to stop it at the stage it's at, or even to reverse it, PLEASE let me know how! Everyone I know with dentures that I've asked about it says that dentures are a pain and NOTHING like their real teeth, so I do NOT want to lose mine!!!

Date: 1/6/2014 12:29:00 PM  From Authorid: 998    Very good suggestions from Priscilla and Nani. It might take a bit of money to try some of these items, but they might treat the gum issues from within like the Co-Q10, Vit D and C. I take all of these everyday, and I know my health is much better overall. Maybe you are deficient in those and that is causing the problems you can't seem to fight with a toothbrush and tooth care. Coconut oil seems like it would be strange, but is very good for our health. I let a teaspoon melt in my mouth twice a day, and I see a difference in my health and gums. I also agree with tea tree oil. Just a tiny bit into mouthwash works great. It does not taste good, but works. Good luck.

This treatment may sound simple, but it is one of the most effective. Dissolve a small amount of sea salt in a glass of water, then swish this mixture around in your mouth for thirty seconds three times per day. You may want to try doing this after brushing your teeth. The minerals in the natural sea salt help draw moisture out of your gums and reduce inflammation.

Tea bags
Black tea contains a compound called tannic acid, which can be very effective in treating gum disease. To take advantage of this property, try brewing a pot of tea with several tea bags. Remove the bags from the pot and let them cool before pressing them against your gums for five minutes. You can also drink the tea you have made; it contains powerful antioxidants that may help your body fight off infections in your gums and elsewhere.

Date: 1/7/2014 1:47:00 PM  From Authorid: 64365    1tblsp of coconut oil is recommended per day. It is a better pre-shampoo treatment than oil made from petroleum products and an awesome skin moisturizer, as well. Your whole body can be treated with it, inside and out...AND, you can cook with it. It's a great fat buster, too.
