I have come in contact with some really cool people on facebook. In the past few months I friended someone because my friends confused her profile for mine, as we both have the same name.
Her oldest son (who is still just a little boy) is in a PICU due to Guillian-Barre. She said that the drs said that it hasn't peaked, and he still has the worst to go. It is a very rare condition,Worldwide, the annual incidence is about 0.6–4.0 occurrences per 100,000 people. Men are one and a half times more likely to be affected than women. The incidence increases with age; about one case per 100,000 occurs in people aged below 30 years, it seems that her son has hit this unfortunate lottery. That means only about 71,340 people will develop this condition yearly
Please keep her son Hunter in your prayers.
Just a little info on his condition:
HUNTER UPDATE: not great news, Guillian-Barre is diagnoses. Hunter will continue to stay in PICU to make sure he doesnt need to b intuibated. He will b in hospital a minimum of amonth. He will have to rehab after to regain his motor skills back and relearn to walk. Plse keep him in ur prayers as doctor has said he has yet to reach the peak, so it will get much worse before it gets better.

From Wikipedia:
Supportive care is the cornerstone of successful management in the acute patient. Of greatest concern is respiratory failure due to paralysis of the diaphragm, the muscle most important for breathing. Intubation may be needed when evidence of impending failure of the muscles of breathing is present .
