Date: 11/27/2013 6:38:00 PM From Authorid: 19772 I'm going to my sister's house for the holidays this year, so I'm not really doing any major cooking. I have volunteered to make the greanbean casserole though so we'll see how it goes. Nothing too complicated about that just a couple of cans of green beans mixed in with cream of mushroom soup sprinkled with french's fried onions. Guess we'll see if they're a hit or not, lol. |

Date: 11/28/2013 10:52:00 PM ( Admin-N ) My mother would cube up, spice, and dry out a loaf of bread in the oven, minus the crusts of the bread. She used salt, pepper, garlic, onion powder and dried parsley flakes in a little bit of melted margarine, tossed with the bread cubes. This was her dressing base. She would put that in a big pot, slice up a stick of margarine all over it, add a whole diced onion and celery, and use the stock off of the boiled giblets to wet it down, and mix it up. This was her dressing and it was sooooooooooooooooooooooo gooooooooooooooooooood. I use Pepperidge Farm garlic and herb dressing croutons (not cornbread) because it tastes just like what my mom used to make from scratch. I just add the onion, celery, margarine and stock. |
