**This will be in my 3rd book, Melody in the Wind** (1930'S-1970'S Influence)
I wanted to write about a soldier going off to war....

Eight teen and last dance of the night
tomorrow I ship out to a distant land
our country needs me and I've got to go
so many things I've left unsaid
can't stand I'll be away from you
so come here, share this last dance
and get lost in the music
let this be your last memory of me
If I don't make it back

Look at you, growing into a young woman
was looking forward to go to college with you in the fall
and try out for the football team
sharing a malt, talking about our future
going to have to put a hold on those dreams
but look around at all our friends
they are going through the same thing

Will you come down with my parents and see me off
I know it's not going to be easy
but every morning and night I'll say a prayer
I'll come back and take you in my arms
pick up where we left off
and I promise I'll marry you
first thing when I get back

For now let's get lost in the music
and not think about tomorrow or the days after
let's think of our good times and our laughter
