I'm blessed, not going to hide it, not boasting, it is what it is.
People have different lives, and ideas how people should live, have their own heroes and have their favorite celebrities.
I've met a lot of sports stars, country singers, and a handful of actors since I was a little kid. Even after 26 years of rubbing elbows, it still doesn't get old.
I know stars and sports stars don't have to sign especially for adults. Thanks to Ebay and adults who sell their collection, ruining it for the little kids who still dwell in us adults.
But This summer I got to meet 3 of my heroes and they are truly meaningful.
The first was Ryne Sandberg, Cubs Hall of Famer, I met him 3 times once in 1986, again in 2003, and 2013. I got a photo, a card, and the photo of me with him as a kid all signed. He is still one of my favorite players of all time. And I hope he stays on as the Phillies Coach, cause there are a few cards I'd like to get signed.
The second person was Country Legend and American Legend Merle Haggard. Though we really didn't have the normal meet and greet, he signed a photo for me on his bus, as I waited outside, and then didn't say much when he came out of his tour bus, but just standing in the presence of him was just Amazing. I mean the impact he had on Country Music and his story growing up in a boxcar, being a fugitive, and being in prison and coming out on top is like a Greek legend. And I mean that in the utmost respect and he makes me want to be a hobo riding on trains.
The third person is a love/hate with baseball fans. Think back to the 1998 Baseball season and the great Homerun Chase between Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa. That race really got me into baseball, and being 13 was a major impact on me. I even went to some of his games when he could of broke the Homerun record of 61 homers.
Yep a few weeks ago I got to meet Mark Mcgwire. A player who used steroids, but in a twist of fate brought baseball out of a deep slump. Yea his 70 homeruns was broken by Barry Bonds with 73.
To me he's still got a special place in my memories thanks to the feelings of that summer.

Like I said I've met many famous people, but these 3 probably mean the most to me, now that I am getting older, and not as into every country artist as I use to be, or baseball players.
There are a few more players I'd like to meet and may have the chance one day, but for now I'm in 7th Heaven.
