This acronym for the word bible is not anything new, however I would like to shed a little new light on it.
Are you not getting what you really need from your church or bible study groups? Does something seem to be lacking?
Quite honestly, I have, for many years, something about going to sunday school and the church service just did not seem to fill my needs, and the longer I went, the more things just did not seem as they should.
Whenever I present questions to the teachers and pastors, the answers I got seemed ok for a little while but soon faded away.
Starting about a year ago, I started reading the bible everyday at my lunch break at work, then the rest of the day, I would keep what I had just read in mind and really put thought to it. I would put so much thought to it that not only did the rest of the work day pass very quickly, but I was actually eager to get home to read some more.
Then one evening, I got down on my knees, and asked God to make my heart a heart of flesh, and fill me with his Holy Spirit and fill me with the Spirit of truth, and to fill me with his knowledge and wisdom as it would pertain to how a believer should be. I wanted to worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.
A short time after that time I started doing research (particularly on the internet) but soon got the "Blue Letter Bible" program which shows the original Hebrew and Greek along with the original definitions of those words.
I prefer using the king james version along with concordance and lexicon, because when the kjv was written in Elisibethian english in the year 1611 of the common era, it was 5 translations removed from the original languages, and all other english translations are based on the kjv, and also the most accurate concordances and lexicons are made for the kjv.
There is no need for me to explain that the form of english used in the kjv is not commonly used in everyday speech and communication. Therefore it makes you to have to use the brain that God gave you to search out the truth.
Would it be surprising to find out that many of the things that we are taught in the americanized denominational churches are either deliberate lies, or lies that have been made up centuries ago and handed down by tradition?
Are not all of Gods laws, that is, the laws or instructions ( hebrew Torah = instructions ) that Moses brought down from Mount Sinai for all people and for all of time, even now?
As an example: Numbers 15 vs 15-16 One ordinance shall be both for you of the congregation, and also for the stranger that sojourneth with you, an ordinance forever in your generations; as ye are, so shall the stranger be before the Lord. One law and one manner shall be for you, and for the stranger that sojourneth with you.
also in Exodus 12 vs 49 One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you.
and also Romans 10 verse 12 For thereis no difference between the Jew and the Greek : for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
and Galatians 3 vs 28-29 Therefore is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond or free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Therefore if we are Abraham's seed ( or children, and children do what their father does ( or did> and Abraham was justified because he kept the law (or Torah which means the instructions which is the first 5 books of the old testament, however in the original hebrew old testament actually means covenant, and new testament actually means renewed covenant)
and in Jesus's own words in John 14 vs 12-17 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. (notice the Jesus said, " if you love me, keep my commandments", He did not say to keep some of them, or pick and choose the commandments that you want to keep.
then in verse 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, him it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Jesus is not speaking of the 10 commandments only, He is speaking of all of them. What we call the 10 commandments are only the first 10, that God shouted down from the top of the mountain after leaving Egypt, and the people told Moses that we cannot listen to God's voice in that way any more or we will die, and asked Moses to go back up and get the rest of the commandments and bring them down to us. This entire event is Exodus chapter 20.
and now to James chapter 2 verse 10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all. (please read the verses before and after to see the entire context)
Now in Matthew 5 verse 17, Jesus says, Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
If you look in the Greek interlinear, the Greek word used for fulfil is pleroo. Pleroo has 2 definitions and the translators of the kjv happened to use the word fulfil.
However, if you think about the context, Jesus was not a Levite, therefore could not fulfil the laws pertaining to them, and there are laws pertaining only to women that he could not fulfil, He did fulfil the spring feasts and upon his return will fulfil the fall feasts, but if you use the other definition of pleroo, which is "to fully teach", that is what he came to do, not to destroy the law, but to fully teach the law.
I am not trying to tell you anything but the truth concerning the gospel, but I am just a man, do not take my word for these things, but be a good berean and test out the word of God, and search for the truth. If it is taught in the New testament, you will find that it will be backed up in the old testament as well, and where there seems to be contradictions, go back to the original hebrew and Greek, the word of God is perfect and does not contradict itself, however in the translations of things, definitions of words and phrases get lost, or defined out of context.
It takes 2 or 3 witnesses to declare a truth, obey all of God's instruction, keeping the Sabbath and eating per His dietary instructions were the easiest ones for me to start with and go from there. You will find that the truth really does set you free and blessings abound when you do the law and not just be a hearer of the law.
Thanks for reading and God bless you.......Jeff
