I don't buy the foot traffic moving it. Why wouldn't the other statues move? |

I actually do think it is the foot traffic. Maybe the base of the statue is not as even as the others or it is tilted in some way. Or it's position in the display is not the same as the others. What gives it away, IMO, that it is foot traffic is that the statue only moves during the day when the people are walking and then it stops at night. |

I watched the video on fb earlier. Its interesting that they have had the statue for years and it is only now moving. It seems like if it were traffic vibrations causing it, then it would have happened all along. |

I suppose over time, floor boards can warp and become uneven and thus cause the display to be uneven and bounce or vibrate due to foot traffic. It is odd to watch in turn on the video still. |

Ever weird. Maybe it's shy and doesn't like all of the people looking at it, lol! |

Apparently the bottom base of the statue isn't completely flat and has a small bubble-point in the middle allowing it to rotate like a slowly spinning top. Due to the Manchester Museum is located in the UK or northern hemisphere, the statue would be expected to rotate counterclockwise (which it does) just like tornadoes do rotate also in that direction. If the statue were to be relocated in a southern hemispheric region then it would rotate clockwise. Why it didn't rotate before: first you'll notice it's placed on a smooth glass panel, perhaps the glass has an imperfection and we can't be certain the statue has never been slightly moved from its original location. If there are any changes in vibration either caused by the planet itself (which by the way planet movement does have an effect on a pendulum) or construction nearby or even a change in vibration increased caused by excess sewage and water underground pipes, or perhaps there is some rather small seismic activity not being noted or detected by seismic data collectors. |
