I Want to Live and make it in this Town~Psyguy

Cop cars screaming past me, another drug deal gone bad
wouldn't surprise me, it's the fifth one this week
cars are broken into, hate filled graffiti sprayed all over buildings
can't even get a hot meal without a beggar asking for change
schools get out at three, but the kids have no where to go
they just walk the streets 'til the streetlights turn on
they haven't had a meal since noon
this town is run down

But I want to live and make it in this town
fear of the unknown and the dark don't bother me
this town can be rebuilt
with a little spit shine and elbow grease
you can see it in these people's eyes they want change
and if it begins with me so be it
cause I want to live and make it in this town

Priests are asking for donations from the poor
they tell stories from the old testament
but don't teach love and acceptance and Jesus saves
families histories can be traced through the prison systems
something needs to give and change
people need to stand up
and say they are tired of all this darkness that surrounds them
and I'll lead the charge
