Here is a site with maps showing  terms and pronunciations people use for the same thing. How do you pronounce Aunt?  Mayonnaise?  Coupon?  Do you say you all, y'all, you or you guys?  See if your pronuciation matches others in your region.  I had no idea anyone pronounced mayonnaise  "may-uh-naze" or syrup as "sih-rup".

Date: 6/9/2013 1:15:00 PM  From Authorid: 53427    I say ant for aunt. mayonnaise- man-aze, coupon- Que-pon, I say ya'll (I'm from TN lol), syrup- sear-up, but I've heard sih-rup plenty. And I don't say pop or soda, I say coke.
Date: 6/9/2013 1:19:00 PM  From Authorid: 53427    Interesting looking at the different questions it has on the maps. My mom says supper, but I say dinner. She also says New O-Leans, for New Orleans, which drives me batty.

Date: 6/9/2013 2:53:00 PM  From Authorid: 21903    I saw something about this the other day - thanks for the link! It's so interesting to see how differently people in just the same country say things! So fun to see the differences (although I'll swear up and down anyone who says pecan sounds like PEE-can is just wrong...) lol!!
