On Tuesday April 23, 2013 we held a funeral service for my mom in Houston, TX. Her obituary can be found on this website, although it has some mistakes. I contacted the funeral home about these and they should be fixing them soon.
Here is the link to the slideshow my sister and I made that we played during her funeral service. It played to this song as well.
My sister & I put this poem in the funeral program for Mom:
I wanted to share this poem we put in moms funeral program:
Death is nothing at all
I have only slipped away to the next room
I am I and you are you
Whatever we were to each other
That, we still are
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way,
Which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed
At the little jokes we enjoyed together
Play, smile, think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
That it always was
Let it be spoken without effect
Without the trace of a shadow on it
Life means all that it ever meant
It is the same that it ever was
There is absolute unbroken continuity
Why should I be out of mind
Because I am out of sight
I am but waiting for you
For an interval
Sonewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.
All is well
-Henry Scott Holland

Tonight I got a tattoo memorializing my Mom. In the last Harry Potter book before Harry goes to battle Lord Voldemort in their final battle, he realizes that he may not live. He sees the spirits of those who had been lost in the fight against Voldemort surround him. His parents are both at his side and he says, "You'll stay with me?" to which his father replies "Until the very end." I wanted this quote because I stayed with Mom until her last breath Saturday April 20, 2013 at 8:27pm. I hope she stays with me forever.
I'm going to share some pictures throughout Mom's life that I had put in a slideshow to play during her funeral. I hope you all enjoy them and remember her.
