Would you go on a carnival cruise after what happened?

We're looking to book a cruise for April 2014.  My daughter and her husband, my parents and my youngest daughter and my husband are all going.

We've gone on carnival twice before, in fact my oldest daughter got married on the Dream last summer, but after all the problems they've had we decided to go on the Royal Carribean instead.

I read last night about Carnival's rates dropping and decided to check them out and wow!  We could get a suite for less then a balcony room on RC.   My oldest daughter said she would absolutely not go on Carnival.  That's fine, I really want to try The Royal Carribean, but the rates for Carnival are very tempting at the same time.

I was looking at a five day cruise in June for my husband and I, it would be only around 400.00!  In the fall they have seven day cruises for around 500.00.  So would you give Carnival a chance?  Or does the thought of cruising bore you silly?

Date: 4/11/2013 8:09:00 AM  From Authorid: 49080    Yes, I took a cruise from New Orleans with Carnival. Even through all of this I would still sail with them. The staff are out of this world.
Date: 4/11/2013 8:29:00 AM  From Authorid: 52489    Yes, I would. Actually, I was thinking about going on one precisely because of all the trouble they've had; their rates are lower. I've never been on a cruise ship before, and I thought it might be fun to go.
Date: 4/11/2013 8:31:00 AM  ( From Author ) From Authorid: 15228    Natalie, I agree that they have a great staff and we never had any sort of problem. However, about six years ago my parents took a cruise from California to Hawaii. The ship was having electrical problems before they even boarded and it ended up breaking down once they reached Hawaii, the cruise was cut a week short. They definitely need to get a handle on these engineering problems.

Date: 4/11/2013 2:41:00 PM  From Authorid: 998    I think worrying about a cruise going sidewards, is like being in a panic that the airplane your about to board is going to crash. There are lots of cruises out on the oceans everyday, and nothing happens bad or newsworthy on them. Once in a while there is going to be a bad apple in every bunch .. no matter how much they plan to keep problems from happening.
Date: 4/11/2013 9:17:00 PM  From Authorid: 42945    I'm hoping to go on the Hawaiin cruise from Australia in 2014...I'm going on one over here in November...the rates are quite good ..
Date: 4/12/2013 6:04:00 AM  From Authorid: 63258    After 32 years of marriage and raising 4 kids, my wife and I have never been on a cruise before, probably because we were just too big of a crowd and it would be expensive to go. We have talked about it, but never made the commitment. Now that the kids are gone, we just might make that leap. I don't know if we would try Carnival after all of the troubles though. I will look into it though. My wife really just wants to go to Hawaii...no cruise involved. Thanks

Date: 4/15/2013 6:17:00 AM  From Authorid: 27705    My husband and I are booked for a Carnival Cruise in February. I have cruised with them twice before and had lovely experiences. Somethings incidents like this will happen but that could be with anything... car accidents, plane crashes, ect. I could happen to any cruise line as well.
Can't live in fear of what could be.
