Man Finds Dog After 10 Years! So Cute! ~TGF

NASHUA, NH (CBS) – There are times in life where happy endings just seem to write themselves. Thanks to a whim by Jamie Carpentier of Nashua, New Hampshire, this is one of those times.

Carpentier was recently on his computer and decided to log onto a website he’d never been to before: the Humane Society for Greater Nashua.

Carpentier, who recently lost his boxer, wasn’t in the market for another dog. But he decided to check out the animals up for adoption.

A posting for a 13-year-old basset hound named Ginger caught his eye.

Ginger was the name of the basset hound he once owned with his ex-wife. But, when the couple divorced a decade ago, Ginger, who was 3 years old at the time, went with Carpentier’s ex-wife.

The Humane Society’s post for the 13-year-old Ginger didn’t include a photo. But Carpentier couldn’t shake his curiosity. He emailed a staff member and asked for a picture.

“You always wonder what happened to the dog that… you had a long time ago; and you couldn’t keep it because something happened and you had to give her up,” Carpentier told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.

Carpentier had a few photos from when Ginger was a much younger pup. The markings were the same. The dog’s back story pointed to a match.

“Everything matched up,” Carpentier told WBZ NewsRadio 1030.

Sure enough, this dog was his Ginger.

Carpentier would find out that his ex-wife gave up Ginger in 2003. The dog was adopted; and after ten years, its owner, who is elderly, recently decided that caring for her had become too difficult, and turned her over to the Humane Society.

Ginger spent three months at the shelter.

According to The Nashua Telegraph, the Humane Society told Carpentier that in that time, two possible homes fell through.

But his visit on Martin Luther King Day would turn out differently.

“It was almost like she had never left my sight,” he said. “She got up as soon as she saw me, walked up to me, looking at me and started kissing me on the cheek.”

He quickly changed his mind about never getting another dog.

“She was stuck to me like glue. It was awesome,” he said.

Carpentier, who noted he is thankful to the Humane Society for all their help, says his fiancée and daughter were both on board with adopting Ginger. The rest is history.

“I have her now and she has a place to live and stay,” he said. “The end. It’s awesome.”

Isn't that great?! She is so cute! Check the picture out of her! I wish her and her dad many loving years!

Date: 2/20/2013 2:45:00 PM  From Authorid: 53427    Very sweet. I wonder why the ex wife didn't contact him when she had to give Ginger up, knowing that he loved her. I have a stray cat right now that the vet says is between 6 and 8 years of age, and they went to spay her, and found she'd already been spayed. I'm thinking there may be an owner out there looking for her. I've posted her picture on facebook, and I have ran her picture on the radio station website. I hope someone contacts me, but she is soon to be up for adoption with Humane Society. Beautiful story TGF, and sorry for rambling!
